Australia : Stripper performs atop Ayer's Rock

Stripper performs atop Ayer's Rock (with video)
    Dan Satherley
    Sun, 27 Jun 2010

    Alizee Sery

A stripper has caused outrage in Australia by getting her kit off on top of Uluru, also known as Ayer's Rock.

French-born Alizee Sery, 25, says she did as a tribute to the Aboriginal people.

"What we need to remember is that traditionally, the Aboriginal people were living naked, so stripping down was a return to what it was like," she told Australian reporters.

"I do not mean in any way for this video to offend the Aboriginal culture."
Her wish is unlikely to be granted. Uluru is considered sacred land to Australia's Aboriginal people, and visitors are told not to climb it.

"After such a hard climb, when you reach the top, the view and the magic of the place gives you an amazing feeling of peace and freedom," says Sery. "You want to sing, dance, and strip."

It was the fulfilment of a life-long dream for her.

"If I can do a strip on Ayers Rock, then anything is possible."

Officials are likely to tighten access to the rock following her performance, which was videotaped (see below, safe for work).

Indigenous group wants Uluru stripper deported
Updated 3 hours 5 minutes ago

Alizee Sery says she is aware Uluru is considered sacred and she meant no offence.
    (AAP)

One of Australia's most powerful Indigenous groups says a French woman who stripped on top of Uluru should be deported.

Alizee Sery, 25, climbed to the top of the sacred rock and was filmed stripping down to a bikini, an act she described as a "tribute" to Aboriginal culture.

The Federal Government asks tourists not to climb Uluru and to respect the site when they visit.

But the Central Land Council's director, David Ross, says the woman's stupidity is indicative of many people who ignore the traditional owners' request not to climb the rock.

He says the climb should be closed and Prime Minister Julia Gillard to deport the woman.

Traditional owner Alison Hunt says she too is angry and disgusted by the Ms Sery's lack of respect for Indigenous people living in the area.

"We try our best to share our land with many walks of life and coming here and doing that is just disrespect - it's not acceptable at all," she said.

But Ms Sery has told the Sunday Territorian that she meant no offence.

"I am aware that Uluru is sacred in their culture. My project is a tribute to the greatness of the Rock," she said.

"What we need to remember is that traditionally, the Aboriginal people were living naked. So stripping down was a return to what it was like.

"After such a hard climb, when you reach the top, the view and the magic of the place gives you an amazing feeling of peace and freedom. You want to sing, dance and strip."

how easily offended; ffs did anyone see her?
Just who was offended here? Doesn't bother me.
She got her thrill, her fame - hardly a deportation matter.

"You want to sing, dance and strip."

I think there should be more of it.

I think it might have offended those who consider it a sacred icon, not a pole dancing stage for some publicity seeking whore.

absolutely correct harry.....she should have shown more respect instead of just thinking of her own little 15 minutes of fame that she has now procured....the local aboriginal tribe should now perform a sacred ritual on her naked body...a ritual called 'hiding the spitting ferret'.

She'll have her gash out in next month's Penthouse magazine just wait and see.

The big question then will be which group of people she is going to pay tribute too when doing so.

FFS it's only a rock, and why do Aussies suddenly care about the feelings of Abbo's after taking all their land and turning them all into alcoholics????

FFS, we are talking about a rock here and how Aussies are suddenly concerned about the feelings of the aborigne population, now do you not find this a bit ironic considering how Aboriginees have been treated over the years, as in having their land taken and turned into alcoholics, no troll just stating facts.

What's ironic is someone who is clearly culturally ignorant in starting out by stating 'it's just a rock' then going off on a diatribe over how the Aboriginals were treated by other culturally ignorant people.

It is just a rock, maybe a prettier one than other rocks but still just a rock, and i'm not going off on a diatribe at all, i just find it quite amazing that all of a sudden Aussies and you suddenly care so much about the feelings of the aborigne population, or pretend to anyway. Lets keep this in perspective, some tart has climbed a rock and taken her kit off, big deal, no one gives a shit including the politicians and tree huggers trying to get some personal gain from it.
