How can it be alright to punch someone half your size in the face for a minor offence such as Jaywalking. I hope they review his actions he hardly handled the situation well. He inflamed it by his actions and for what a minor offence. Maybe it is easy to get a conviction for these crimes, and more difficult to earn his money catching real criminals. The cop was justified in using an increased level of force when the second woman escalated the situation by using physical force to prevent a lawful arrest.
Note the first woman also attacked the cop when he turned his attention to fending off the second. Had he not used escalated force he would have been in danger of being overpowered by the two offenders.
However, the cop should have been able to immobilize the first offender far more quickly in order to stop the escalation. He was probably using minimum force because she was a woman and also black. Not to mention all the video recordings being taken. He should have just tripped her to the ground or choked her out.

Well put. Police pettiness should be considered just as much of an abuse of authority, and just about the same as police brutality. You hear too many stories about some stupid cop citing someone for using 2 seats on an empty subway train or driving 38 in a 35 zone. I hope this petty bast*rd loses his job.

It's also stupid to have respect for anyone just because they occupy a certain position. We had a President who would not have made store manager at Walmart if he had not been not born into a wealthy influential family and the son of another former president. I'm supposed to respect an idiot such as that? To many positions are obtained by factors other than merit to have respect for their occupants.

Once again I live in Seattle. These black kids are recking havoc on the local community. Just recently there was an incident that got national news coverage;



It was a teenage black girl on a teenage black girl. Trust me they are out of control. These girls all live in the same area and go to the same schools.

The officer had the above incidents as well as these below on his mind. All have happened in the last year in Seattle all committed by blacks.

Admittedly both women were out of order, had they simply been polite to the cop then the day for them might well have continued without further ado. No doubt the cop had his reasons for stopping them as jaywalking is not looked as a trivial offence in many parts of the world (it seems only in Britain for one is it largely disregarded).

However, punching somebody in the head is extremely dangerous, the brain is soft tissue and it doesn't take much to do it serious and permanent damage. No doubt the officer will have been trained to defend himself but that does not justify his actions. Any policeman with an iota of common sense will acquire assistance which he clearly needed - that's what radios are for!
