Girl dies from eating Bible shock!

A baby girl died after her mother stuffed pages from the Bible into her mouth and sat on her, a UK court has heard.
Julia Lovemore, from Cambridge in eastern England, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her six-week-old daughter Faith on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Sounds more like something that would happen in America's Bible Belt than Britain. The British usually are not the religious fanatics that many of the lower mentality Ameicans are.

Well said. I'd not associate this story as being representative of Britain at all. Other than recent immigrants, that is..

    The Full story from MSN

Julia Lovemore, from Cambridge in eastern England, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her six-week-old daughter Faith on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Cambridge Crown Court heard Lovemore, a Christian fundamentalist who is also bi-polar,
had been in a "florid state of psychoses" when she killed her daughter.

In a statement Lovemore gave to police, she told them she did not fully understand what she was doing at the time of the death in June last year.

"I sat in my bedroom and I was ripping pages out of my Bible. I put some small bits of paper in Faith's mouth and she spat them out," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.
"For some reason I sat on her, I was crying. I was bouncing on the bed. I don't know why I was sitting on her. I got bi-polar."
A health worker and a psychiatric nurse had visited Lovemore's home at the time Faith was believed to have been dying.
The pair had made the house call after becoming concerned about Lovemore's husband David, who is also mentally ill.
When they arrived they heard Mr Lovemore praying and shouting, "Take the devil out of Julia".
But they left soon after without seeing Faith, fearing that they were making Mr Lovemore even more agitated by their presence.
Later that day, Mr Lovemore turned up at his GP's office carrying his dead daughter's body.
The court heard that a protection order had been placed on the couple's older daughter in 2006 after she was hit with a hairbrush.
The mother has been detained indefinitely under the mental health act.

A sad and horrific story about the killing of a baby by a mentally deranged woman. Very sad indeed.
    It wasn't me!

Sounds as though the health professionals could have done a better job....

Having worked a few cases like this, you always check the child or call for assistance so that you can, but you don't leave without seeing the child...

A death that could have been easily avoided.

    A very sad tale.

They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar

You do have to wonder why she and her also mentally ill husband had custody of this baby.

^^Yes, and I am surprised that having clearly witnessed the father in an agitated state, the health professionals didn't intervene.

However, plenty of mentally ill people have kids, but it relies upon them taking their medication...

A common occurrence in such cases is that the patient feels better and stops their medication. Then of course they have an episode and are unaware of what they are doing....and then it's too late.

The mother's or father's psychiatric nurse is supposed to be aware of such instances. Some mentally ill people always take their meds of course. Some don't. Risk assessments are undertaken when child protection issues are relevant. Clearly something went wrong here. The child must've been viewed as not at risk. Clearly that was wrong.

Yes they really messed up here, one might have though that hearing this would have been a huge indicator that something bad was going to happen.

You really have to wonder what the social workers were thinking by walking away and leaving the baby in such obvious danger.

Same all over the world with these religious fcukers. She would have been targeted and recruited into their sect because of her mental instabilities making her exactly the easy and malleable person they love to turn into drones.
