Fired for fornication: Teacher conceived child before marriage

    1:18

A former teacher claims she was fired after admitting that she conceived a child several weeks before marrying the baby's father.
Jaretta Hamilton was fired by St. Cloud, Florida's Southland Christian Christian School after asking for maternity leave.
She says when she made the request her boss asked if the child had been conceived before she was married.
Principal Jon Ennis says Hamilton committed an immoral act and that he does not regret the decision.
Hamilton is now suing the school.
Her attorney points out that there were nothing in the school's personal conduct policy barring sex out of wedlock.

Is Florida part of Texas? A few years ago there was a young high school teacher who romanced his now graduated student at 18. They were married and then run out of town. They moved to another town but got run out of there too. He couldn't have been more than 25 or 26.

I certainly hope so. I know several people who lie to their employers and co-workers about there destination plans so as not to admit coming to Thailand and especially Pattaya. Sad that Christians cannot be Christ like instead of vicious.

the only question she has right now is how she's going to spend the proceeds from the out of court settlement.

I'll explain it to you cause you've been sheltered. The USA is big big big. Countries like England are small small small. There is a stronger tenancy to reject outsiders on an island, you see it's because it's small small small. In the USA they have so much land, rivers, mountains , valleys, desert, rain forests, plains, people can easily find a niche and become as mad as they wish. In a country like England they'd do the same with a new haircut or some flash new shoes.

No hypocrisy in her termination. In her contract of employment she agreed to abide by the principles and tenets that she was teaching. She knew that her employer had a code of moral conduct and she agreed to abide by it. The school was set up as a Christian school where it was expected that all staff and students would respect the teachings of their professed faith. She chose to engage in the salcious sins of the flesh. If she was retained, then it would make a mockery of all that the school, the students and the other staff believed in. It is all about honouring a contract, which she apparently did not. Yes, she may have grounds to demand compensation under state and federal employment practice laws, but in turn the school has grounds to litigate on her breach of contract.

If she disagreed with the views at the school she was free to tender her services to a secular schoolboard. There are job vacancies galore for teachers in Florida. She was not compelled to work at a faith based institution.

As much as I hate these religious schizophrenics, I do not think the percentage is that high. Even the Catholic Church has admitted that the 7 days quoted in the Bible were 7 periods of time, not necessarily a day as we know it, and that was 40 year ago when my mother made me go to Catholic school. The real nut jobs are the ones who claim dinosaur bones were planted by God to test their faith, but only a very small percentage of Americans are that stupid.

^^ Anal attorney speak. We're all impressed.
Fact is she did nothing wrong. The school is trying to prove how Godly they are, probably trying to cover something up, like a deacon fiddling a Sunday School boy of five. And: She's a Black Southerner.

    Oh.

So did the school not also teach forgiveness?

Surely that would mean that whoever sacked her, should also get sacked. Right?

This is an important little fact.

I can't wait for the principal to get caught in a seedy motel with a black transvestite prostitute.

Hard to believe. I am from the US and I really don't think anyone I know believes that the world was created in 7 days.

If you took a poll like this in some small southern town you could possibly come up with that figure. Problem is that wouldn't be a random polling of the US.

Trust me, it is not just the south. It is much of Ohio and definitely the northern midwest too. You would be surprised at how literal these fundamentalist Christians are.

There are pockets if them in New England, the Middle Atlantic states, and the West Coast.

Nevertheless....the preceding debate just confirms to me that for clarity and sanity it is best to place oneself firmly in the middle and not become an extremist. Examine all facts without bias then make a judgement.
