Alligator found at Stewart Middle School in Tampa
TAMPA - The principal at Stewart Middle School got an unwelcome surprise early Monday morning when he found an alligator on school grounds.
According to Tampa Police spokesperson Andrea Davis, the 7 foot long alligator was found in front of the cafeteria and then contained in one of the schools hallways.
Members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and trappers caught the alligator and removed it from the premises.
The alligator was later euthanzied.
Hillsborough County school district spokeswoman Linda Cobbe said the alligator was found before students arrived and they were kept away. No one was hurt.
