No I think you will also find that a higher percentage of these fat bastards also smoke.

I guess you haven't read the story on how NYC put in place a law that requires all restaurants, including all fast food places, to show calorie and fat content of all dishes.

The reason for the bans on the smoking is not because of what it does to you, but that it infects the air of others who choose not to smoke, but then that doesn't fit into your rant.

I'm gonna get all deep n' heavy on you now (literally)...

I'm fat. At the moment 125 kilos and 175cm in height. Loy Toy can back these stats up. ( Hi Loy, OK mate?)

I have an addictive personality. Not an excuse. I just cannot stop eating. It's gonna kill me.

I did smoke fully for 12 whole years. 40 a day. I stopped 5 years ago.

I have the will power to stop smoking but not eating excessively.

Why? The simple reason is, as part of the cycle of life, we need to eat. I don't need to ever smoke again. But I have to eat...Temptaion is there, 24/7.

    FAT BASTARD

He'll eat your pies, he'll tell you lies,
You wouldn't believe that fat bastard's size
His massive gut is forty foot, it goes dark when he walks in the pub
His buttocks part, you'll smell his farts,
He's so fat, he can't wipe his own arse.
So now you've heard about the ugly turd,
He's a virgin and he's never had a birdDoes anyone know he's gay? He goes round spreading AIDs.
(We haven't got a clue where the fat fucker is)
Has anyone seen him eat? He's never seen his feet.
    The fat bastard.

Five hundred pounds, he's very round,
But he gets taller when he lies on the ground
He busts his flies, but he can't hide,
Coz he's too big, too fat and too fucking wide
Can anyone guess his weight? That was his fourteenth plate
(We haven't got a clue where the fat fucker is)
His backside blubbers about, cleavage peeping out
    The fat bastard
Where's the fat [at][at][at][at] at? Even his fat is fat.
    (Found him, he's over here)
You took your time to spot him, he's got an enormous bottom
    The fat bastard

^DSD: Well, at least you stopped smoking. That will help. But you're right, that's a lot of extra weight to be carrying. I won't give any advice, as it is your business and not mine, but wish you the best. If you can stop smoking, you can cut down the food intake. Both are simply a matter of will power, which you have already proven you have when you stopped smoking. SHound: Take your points and agree. But do you really think anyone ever reads the calorie count information posted in restaurants? Any more than smokers read the warning labels on every pack of smokes they open? I think not.

You need to eat, but not excess. It is something you should talk to someone about, but at the end of the day you are only hurting yourself.

I am 7kg overweight, but you have 45 on me.

It is all about discipline, but we all have our weak points.

At my old company they put the food info up for a couple of weeks, but the food was so bad for people that they took it down.

When I am home and when I am shopping I look at all the labels to decide what to buy. I don't bother in restaurants because I don't eat there enough.

If the warnings get through to 10% then it is 10% better than nothing.

I was at a local chain a few years ago and two women who easily weighed over 300 pounds each were drinking diet coke and ordered dessert...............so yes you can be right.

^I am lucky in that I live in a country where fresh fish and seafood is cheap, and easily available all year, as are good vegetables and a wide variety of fruit. I haven't eaten in a fast food outlet for decades, although I do occasionally take my twins to one - but I doubt that a burger and fries now and again will hurt them. I did smoke for a number of years - never up to a pack a day, but quit when my twins started bugging me about it. I don't boycott fast food places for health reasons, I just don't like the food. Even when I smoked, I fully supported the ban on smoking in restaurants and other public places, like shopping malls. I don't want to breath in somebody's cigar smoke when I am eating any more than the next guy. But I do think it has gone over the top when you ban smoking in bars and open air places.

In NYC many bars are also restaurants, with no separation. I would be fine with a smoking area. I also think that open air places should allow smoking, unless the smoke filters into non open areas.

I agree about limited burgers. I go to McDonalds or others about 5 times a year normally when I am traveling and it is the only option..

^My wife does. Just had a grilled tuna steak with garlic butter and lime for lunch. Sadly, however, in general you are correct.

When I moved to Atlanta from up north everybody was nuts about Krispy Kreme. I tried them and thought, hell it's just a donut what's the big deal.
Now I hear they are opening a shop in Bangkok. There are donut shops all over town already. The other day at the Mall Bangkapi I spotted an upscale donut shop with the the donuts displayed like jewelery in a showcase and costing 50 baht each. Needless to say, I passed on by.

    ^^^

I'm in agreement- I first tried them when they opened a branch in San Diego about 10 years ago- they were 'crunchy' with sugar- I was not impressed.
