Guns found in US professor's luggage by Egypt customs

Guns found in US professor's luggage by Egypt customs

Police in Egypt have arrested an Egyptian-American academic discovered to have several weapons in his luggage as he arrived on a flight from the US.

Officials said they saw the man, named as Mohammed Ibrahim Marei, a professor of botany, "behaving nervously" as he waited to pass through customs.

In his bags they found two handguns, 250 bullets, several swords, daggers and knives.

He had arrived on an Egyptair flight from New York to Cairo.

The authorities said they had launched an investigation, it was reported.

It was not immediately clear how the man was able to get through security in New York and board the plane.

^Jet, agreed sad yes scary no. The beer will get me well before some silly turd with is grandmothers wig stuck to his face and two rolls of toilet paper wound round his head.

Sad that we let it get to this level, with all the advances we've made.
We are allowing them to drag us back to the stone age.

I know my place when in the Middle East.
I know my place when in Toyland.

Please why can't they respect the countries that allow them to stay.
Do you know what nemesis means?

I got my bottle of water through Chicago airport a couple of years ago in my carry on, they got over excited about my cigarettes and missed the water.

I just flew through the Cairo airport last Sunday. The first airport I have been through that has noticed my nail clippers in my carry on bag. They didnt notice my two tubs of chili paste though.

Hopefully they lock this guy up so he isn't allowed to return.

^^ Same Same..! They were so interested in my half finnished bottle of chocolate milk they DESPERATELY needed (hangover cure).

They missed the hip flask full of Remy Martin that I'd forgot was in my hand luggage. (Swampy)

Slightly strange story it seems.... carrying guns from the US and into Egypt.... rather than vice versa... I would have thought it was easier to obtain them in Egypt rather than take the risks at the airport...

I should imagine that his questioning by the Egyptian authorities will be somewhat harsher (at least physically) than stateside.

Advanced waterboarding, you know with turds in the water and electric power connected for adding that all important buzz to the experience. It's hard to swallow (no pun intended) but in some ways we are behind

Definitely. No toothpaste, but a sword and guns and ammo and a dagger.

    Indiana Jones?

It's not illegal to have guns in your checked luggage AFAIK. Certainly not in the USA, right to bear arms and all that. As long as you are legal to carry the things in the first place.

Must have been checked luggage as it's impossible to get swords, bullets, and guns (plural) through in the carry on.
