    Faarrrrrk its the Ark...

    A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers said Monday they believe they may have found Noah's Ark — 4000m up a mountain in Turkey.
    The team say they recovered wooden specimens from a structure on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey that carbon dating proved was 4800 years old, around the same time the ark is said to have been afloat.

    "It's not 100 percent that it is Noah's Ark but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it," Yeung Wing-cheung, a Hong Kong documentary filmmaker and member of the 15-strong team from Noah's Ark Ministries International told AFP.

    This might be an idea for Los...

    The biblical story says God decided to flood the earth after seeing how corrupt it had become, and told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.

    Saw a lengthy documentary on the Arc only about a week back ( I assumed it was current) . The documentary was by I think an American/English team of scientists commenting and adventurers (?) on site . Much was shown as unsupported supposition because Turkish authorities would not permit excavation?
    Wonder how these Chinese guys got the ok to dig?

    They found the Arc decades ago. Not that anyone will believe it as the media will only report on some idiot with a Dr before his name who will decide that his special way of carbon dating is better then others and that the boat is in fact on 7 months old.
    News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

    Yeah, its damn annoying when an expert in the field disproves one's belief in the 'facts' as one wishes to portray them.

    I wonder how Kangaroos got all the way from Australia to the middle east to board the ark in the first place.

    not to mention that all the disease bearing pathogens that the animals and Noah's family must have been carrying if you accept that evolution cannot occur.

    Gonorrhoea, crabs, syphilis, HIV, herpes, the list goes on.

    Funny how when carbon dating agrees with your predisposition it's used as evidence but if it says something is 50,000+ yrs old it's not valid science. And 'evangelical explorers'??? Since when was confirmation bias a full job description?

    Somebody wasn't paying attention in Sunday school: two of every "unclean" animal...14 of every "clean" animal.

    The thing must have been as big as half a dozen aircraft carriers with that lot aboard.
    Gen. 7:2 also overlooks the fact that some animals eat other animals so Mr Noah took a few spare with him ?

    There's another little problem with Genesis: Adam and Eve had only two sons. Either we are all descended from a pair of incestuous gays or camels were involved, but I'll leave that for another day.

    Let's go back to the happy story of Noah's Ark:

    According to the smart people there are about 1.5 million different species alive now and since the creationists reject evolution there must have been the same number when Noah was loading his Ark.

    Genesis 7:4 tells us that Noah (at 600 years old!) had 7 days to do this, so that means that even if we rule that all the animals on earth are 'unclean' (thereby giving Noah the advantage) he had a week to get ~3 million creatures onto his boat.

    1 week= 7 days= 168 hours = 10,080 minutes.

    From this we can see that a 600 year old dude was allegedly cramming ~298 animals per minute (or roughly 5 per second) onto a boat that then ended up 2/3 of a mile up a mountain!

    That may sound absolutely ludicrous, but it gets even better! If we look to the list of animals considered unclean we find it is fairly short according to Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14:

    * Bat
    * Camel
    * Chameleon
    * Coney (Hyrax)
    * Cormorant
    * Cuckow
    * Eagle
    * Ferret
    * Gier Eagle[1]
    * Glede
    * Great Owl[2]
    * Hare
    * Hawk
    * Heron
    * Kite
    * Lapwing
    * Little Owl
    * Lizard
    * Mole
    * Mouse
    * Night Hawk
    * Osprey
    * Ossifrage
    * Owl
    * Pelican
    * Raven
    * Snail
    * Stork
    * Swine
    * Tortoise
    * Vulture
    * Weasel

    So apart from those 33 species (66 dirty, dirty animals in total) everything else was present at 7 of each sex so (1,500,000-66)*14=20,999,076!

    Run the numbers again and Noah has now managed to load 2,083 animals per minute onto his Ark or ~38 per second!
