Thread: Malmö: Anti-Islam party posters show Muhammad naked

Update: French blog Bivouac-ID posted a picture of the poster (content warning!). The caption reads "Mohammed with wife, he's 53, she's 9. Is this the type of marriage we want to see in Skåne?"

The anti-Islam Skåne Party put posters with cartoons in twenty different places in Malmö. The posters portray the prophet Muhammed naked with a 9 year old wife by his side. The posters have been reported to the police by both the police and at least one person. The reporters think it could be hate speech.

My understanding of Vatican law is vague and gained from internet links but it looks like it's legal for a consenting boy to be arse shagged at 12 years old in the Vatican.

The truth or falsity of the claims about Mohammed's sexual relations is beside the point. If it's there to incite prejudice against Muslims, there's a good chance that it's hate speech.

Apparently Muslims have no issue with his sexual predilections. It is not disputed it seems and appears as is on Wikipedia. No attempts made to remove it, no death threats, no fatwas...

An odd thing to say. Not disputing the truth of something doesn't mean that you think it's OK; I don't dispute the fact the Holocaust occurred but that doesn't make me a genocidal anti-semite.

Muhammad is the most holy "prophet" in all Islam. His word is absolute.

He committed a most heinous crime. Hardly someone to admire surely? Hardly someone to worship?

Maybe it's just me, but when an individual has sex with a child I tend to view them as a failed individual. Someone profoundly disturbed. Someone with extremely sadistic tendencies. Someone choosing to ignore fundamental rules of nature to do with reproduction to satisfy their own personally warped and incredibly selfish desires. Someone who should be removed from society due to the danger they present to those who are innocent and emotionally and physically immature. Someone who seeks to subjugate, control and dominate those around them.

I don't see how such a person can be worshipped, respected, admired, honoured etc etc.

As far as I know, Mohammed isn't worshipped. And my point was that drawing the conclusion that no Muslims find this objectionable from the fact that Wikipedia says it happened is just ridiculous. What do I think? I think it's wildly anachronistic to judge a 7th century Arabian against the standards of 21st century Europe but, like you, I don't know enough about the topic to have a particularly well-informed opinion.

It is interesting that most Muslims know their Koran quite well, but they know very little outside of that when it comes to Islam or the society within which it was created

Ahh yes I'm familiar with that particular poster and his tactics of ensuring that anything that runs contrary to his small-minded views is summarily dismissed.

It's really quite a brilliant way of reinforcing and entrenching bigotry in its own head-in-the-sand kinda way. After all, why invite in inconvenient facts and objective reality if all they're going to do is expose the flaws in your thinking.
