Mr. Fred you are probably right in your experience but what you fail to understand is that the fundamentalists are in charge (ie fanatics), when push comes to shove and the leaders declare jihad the moderates are too afraid to resist and then follow as fanatics themselves because they are controlled by the interpretation of the Qu'oran as declared by the Imams.
This makes the moderates just as big an enemy as the fundamentalists because the moderates are unable or unwilling to deny the demands of their Imams.
