Meth Lab Catches Fire, Burns Man
Deputies Find Meth Lab Inside Home
PIEDMONT, S.C. -- A man is recovering after investigators said a meth lab caught fire in Anderson County.Deputies responded to a call about an explosion and fire around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at a home on Wren Drive in Piedmont. In the kitchen, investigators said they found a meth lab, which appeared to have ignited during the manufacturing process.Deputies said one person inside the home, Anthony Earl Whitmire, 40, was flown to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment.
There is no word on his condition.
The DEA was notified of the incident and sent a crew to secure any of the hazardous materials inside the home. The incident is under investigation.
