TEHRAN, Iran – Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday called the official version of the Sept. 11 attacks a "big lie" used by the U.S. as an excuse for the war on terror, state media reported.

Ahmadinejad's comments, made during an address to Intelligence Ministry staff, come amid escalating tensions between the West and Tehran over its disputed nuclear program. They show that Iran has no intention of toning itself down even with tighter sanctions looming because of its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.

"September 11 was a big lie and a pretext for the war on terror and a prelude to invading Afghanistan," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by state TV. He called the attacks a "complicated intelligence scenario and act."

The Iranian president has questioned the official U.S. version of the Sept. 11 attacks before, but this is the first time he ventured to label it a "big lie."

In 2007, New York officials rejected Ahmadinejad's request to visit the World Trade Center site while he was in the city for a U.N. meeting. The president also sparked an uproar when he said during a lecture in New York that the causes and conditions that led to the attacks, as well as who orchestrated them, still need to be examined.

At the time, he also told Iranian state TV the attacks were "a result of mismanaging and inhumane managing of the world by the U.S," and that Washington was using Sept. 11 as an excuse to attack others.

He has also questioned the Sept. 11 death toll of around 3,000, claiming the Americans never published the victims' names.

On the 2007 anniversary of the attacks, the names of 2,750 victims killed in New York were read aloud at a memorial ceremony.

9/11 was just what the NeoCons needed as a cover to attack and occupy Iraq.
Afghanistan was just a side issue for them. Pity neither invasion worked out as planned. There's always Iran I suppose.

Just what leaked to the press was damaging and almost too absurd to believe; a commercial jet flight school in Florida warned the Government well before the attacks it had Arab students who are only interested in learning how to steer and maneuver an airborne Boeing 767, and do not care about knowing how to land it or anything else. That should have been the end of the plot right then and there. Granted this was before 9-11, but apparently this flight school had no problem figuring out what they were up to, or simply that it was no good, and notified the FBI. Can you have a much more credible informant than a school that teaches pilots how to fly passenger jets? That is completely amazing and shows how the old laws and the old system should have worked just fine but for the fact we have idiots in our Government.
Also the fact these dopey terrorists actually let the school know what they did, or behaved in such a way the flight school figured it out shows they were neither very bright or clever.

The man might be as mad as a box of frogs but it's worth travelling back in time 70 years and trying to fit yourself into the mindset of an ordinary Iranian. You'd see an elected government with a moderate Prime Minister deposed by the CIA and the UK and replaced by a dictator and a vile secret police force. Now fast forward 70 years and try and understand why they don't like us too much.

I am certainly no conspiracy-nut, we'll leave that to Jesus Jones who is sometimes spot on, but . . . there are far too many obvious inconsistencies in the whole chain of events, as well as glaring holes.

The Pentagon issue is certainly one of the biggest . . . and I am 'surprised' that no-one has had the political guts to pry it open and find out what actually took place

Who did it ? that kind of operations must have been done with some cooperation between Mossad (recruiting the hijackers) and a Pentagon "shadow" government. It was definitely a coup.
