They could have atleast tried to get in between to stop the beating
Hard to understand if they are only employed to observe and report why are they carrying guns ?
We live in a sick world I used to be proud to be called an Aussie but the way things are going in my home town I am almost ashamed to answer to the name . The true Aussie has almost died out to be replaced by a low sub culture of racist animals - politicians who are afraid of losing the ethnic vote plus judges frightened of criticism and upheld appeals.
From what my Pommie friends tell me it's much the same over there ?

Like you? In another post you want Australia to be more like Sudan, or wherever it was, in their treatment of immigrants.

Are you inferring I am racist? - get it right , my criticism is levelled at intolerant religions. Don't tell me you perceive Islam as a recognisable race - back to school red neck!
If you had watched the news interview last night about gangs in Melbourne you would have seen a Lebanese gang leader ( psuedo Aussie) boasting about how he spent every friday and saturday night singling out and delightfully bashing Iraqui , Packi and Asian peaceful passers by - because he could - and how other members of the gang were "off their "P" plates now that they had knifed someone?
Can't say for sure he was a moslem Leb. but pretty good chance he wasn't a Catholic Leb?
You can't defend a religion whose God directs his followers to "convert or kill " any non believers?

Thought I put it in World News. My apologies. Also, I saw this on a few US news station sites today, so if it is old news, guess they are behind the times, too.

True. Doubt they are min wage tho: govt security job = union job. They better get fired with absolutely no bennies, too.

It looks like the girl went to them first for help -- shoulda at least called 911 on their cells or walkie talkies. To stand there and watch while a fellow human being is being beaten (and then one of the gang stole her purse for added effect) is unforgivable. But, WA is a very libbie state, where several police officers have been gunned done over the past several months. Don't understand it. Too lenient laws for offenders, perhaps. Friends in Bellingham are furious.

This is your what is the term? *PROGRESSIVE* *ENLIGHTENED* SOCIETY for you...
I don't know how those guards can look in the mirror after that...... To allow it to happen is UNFORGIVABLE and they should be treated accordingly.
This is certainly a black eye for Americans as a whole... And to get past the political part of this, it is just a sneak peak at a world of problems in American Culture.

I do think the security guards followed their instruction too closely. Once she was down and getting kicked in the head they should have jumped in. If you have seen some of these minimum wage security guards you would probably understand. Not the sharpest folks.
Their CEO has said they will review the "observe only " clause

Interesting to note that one guard walked away to the end of the platform and looked away, while a second turned his back on the victim. So they were not even keeping to the "observe" part of their contract.

    Magntic pole reversal?

Ah, in good old Europe . . . in some countries you could be charged for not assisting.

My, my how the polarity has changed.
I've noticed this too, democrats rabidly conservative , annihilistic republicans.... Yes poles shifting..,
do you think this could be caused by actual magnetic reversal of the poles which is due to happen..

NOVA | Magnetic Storm | See a Reversal | PBS

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Every so often, our planet's magnetic poles reverse polarity (see When Compasses Point South). Compass needles have always pointed north; in a reversal, they would point south. You could perhaps take comfort in the knowledge that these reversals happen infrequently—on average every 250,000 years—but maybe not when you consider that it's been over 700,000 years since the last reversal,

and the next one may be currently underway...

They will get sued alright, rightly so, and should face criminal charges.
One has an legal obligation to call the police when witnessing a crime.

Despite the fact that the "security guards" might get fired for interfering there is something higher than a low paid-low responsibility type job and that is your conscience, how any real man or woman can just stand by and let another human take a beating like nothing was happening. This is just one more example of the liberal lean of the country to give jobs to the unemployable

So, you are ever so proud to mis-quote and find that to be the basis of your 'sound debating platform with a proven data base <sic>'. Have at it . . . I know when I am beaten by a better man. Aside form which my parents told me to never make fun of 'special' people.
