China’s hawks demand cold war on the US

MORE than half of Chinese people questioned in a poll believe China and America are heading for a new “cold war”.
The finding came after battles over Taiwan, Tibet, trade, climate change, internet freedom and human rights which have poisoned relations in the three months since President Barack Obama made a fruitless visit to Beijing.
According to diplomatic sources, a rancorous postmortem examination is under way inside the US government, led by officials who think the president was badly advised and was made to appear weak.
In China’s eyes, the American response — which includes a pledge by Obama to get tougher on trade — is a reaction against its rising power.

Now almost 55% of those questioned for Global Times, a state-run newspaper, agree that “a cold war will break out between the US and China”.
An independent survey of Chinese-language media for The Sunday Times has found army and navy officers predicting a military showdown and political leaders calling for China to sell more arms to America’s foes. The trigger for their fury was Obama’s decision to sell $6.4 billion (£4 billion) worth of weapons to Taiwan, the thriving democratic island that has ruled itself since 1949.

A new cold war with China could save American jobs. just think, without their plastic crap, we might actually make something of value within the Country again. China is leading the World on a race to the bottom.

That 55% think Cold War will break out means absolutely NOTHING.

Too late to do anything constructive.

Some sort of posturing or showdown is inevitable, as China is America's only real threat, financially and militarily. 2 vastly different, but at points oddly the same, behemoths.

Let the games begin. It should be interesting...

Just little insignificant things like that...and anyhooooo they are "internal matters" that's the Chinese's way of saying it's none of your business...

Yet try to do anything about a bad ass country that they have interests in and they squeal like little pigs for us to respect their right to causing repeat atrocities...just look at the Sudan....keep ya nose out China says...and allows horrendous human rights violations to continue unabated. Simply because there's money in it for them...ultimate scumbags...
GO ON AMERICA...every other country ain't go the cahonies/balls...

America should pull it's business' out of China and manufacture at home...giving more jobs to out of work Americans...economic problems also addressed...working for a low wage is better than no wage, surely...the companies can pay higher saleries later..especially when consumers actually realise that the products are lasting longer than the CRAP, MADE IN CHINA..

This is so sad..but probably true...they were even found to be making Tibetan flags..The PRC DID shut that down though...

it's not really that, it's just that they can only base their projections of what may or may not happen on what they know, which is generally either not much or a distorted view. They don't really know what's going on.
It'd be a bit like me saying there's a storm coming because I can see the clouds on the horizon but what I'm looking at is the smoke from a steamship on the horizon that I didn't know was there because I don't have any binoculars because the day I went to buy them the shop had sold out and the stock clerk had forgotten to order more because he was distracted because his wife was pregnant and so was his girlfriend.

have American still not realised that they can't bully and tell other countries what to do yet, guess it must be hard for them to come to terms with the fact that they ain't the power they still think they are.

Complete bullshit ! And I know it because we supply those companies.

All their suppliers are audited by an independant company. Actually "social compliance" audits is now big business. No company with the exposure of Mc Do or Disney will ever take the risk to have a kid or a prisoner in a factory where their products are made.

It was reported a few years ago that China was deeply disturbed by the US's geopolitical plans to encircle them with eventual strategic bases in the middle east. Whether the intention is there or not, the US's force on the middle east does make one wonder.

China PLA officers urge economic punch against U.S.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Senior Chinese military officers have proposed that their country boost defense spending, adjust PLA deployments, and possibly sell some U.S. bonds to punish Washington for its latest round of arms sales to Taiwan.
    World
The calls for broad retaliation over the planned U.S. weapons sales to the disputed island came from officers at China's National Defence University and Academy of Military Sciences, interviewed by Outlook Weekly, a Chinese-language magazine published by the official Xinhua news agency.
The interviews with Major Generals Zhu Chenghu and Luo Yuan and Senior Colonel Ke Chunqiao appeared in the issue published on Monday.

    Yeah.

The only problem being that americans are bad loosers, and commonly use atomic weapons when the get pissed off. I don't think the chinese would mind using them in return.

Commonly? What a load of shit. The US is a warmongering nation but it doesn't "commonly" use nukes to settle conflicts.

This was only matter of time before China decided to use their leverage as a political weapon. However, if they really want it to be effective they shouldn't do it in half measures--sell the whole lot at once and America would truly experience an economic collapse, though it may be a Phyrric victory.

at least Japan and Irak. Wouldn't be surprised they use some now in Pakistan. + providing israel for its illegal attack on Lebanon. It's the only country in the world that has dared to blatantly do so. Even the russians haven't (they just used it on their own people...). When they don't use nukes, they use chemicals anyways, ask the Vietnamese.

^ That's true I didn't have time to rake through the Net' I worked for www.Freetibetcampaign.org many moons ago and met Tibetan Monks and Chinese in the UK who had stories of just those things I mentioned and yes it was some 9yrs ago....but I doubt the policy has changed and that it's just kept quiet and more secretive...I hope these firms and many others of that ilk have changed their ways ....due to pressure of western groups...

I will try to find the links
