UK - Gary Glitter to be 'hanged'

Gary Glitter 'hanged' in Channel 4 drama

Television - News - Gary Glitter 'hanged' in Channel 4 drama - Digital Spy

Wednesday, October 28 2009, 11:44 GMT
By Dan French, TV Reporter
Rex Features

Channel 4 has commissioned a fictitious account of Gary Glitter's life in which he will be seen hanged for his crimes.
The programme, written and directed by Rob Coldstream, is set in a Britain where the death penalty has been reintroduced and convicted paedophile Glitter is the first to be tried.
A spokesperson confirmed that the channel had been in contact with Glitter to inform him about the film, The Execution Of Gary Glitter, which is scheduled to air Monday, November 9.
"High-profile crimes against children often prompt calls for the death penalty," said Channel 4's head of documentaries Hamish Mykura. "This drama confronts the public with what many say they want.
"Putting a resonant figure like Gary Glitter into a fictional situation helps to engage the viewer as the drama unfolds.
"The debate around the death penalty arouses passions on both sides. This drama, with its compelling and original narrative, is an intelligent and thought-provoking examination of the issue."

He's got to be getting paid for this?

I wouldn't put anything past someone with a name like that.

He is sure to be on the payroll if they are using his name.
Nothing like rewarding a pedo for their crimes.

These docudramas where they mix fiction into factual situations can be dangerous.

If watchers of this programme were polled...

1) Should DFID aid be suspended to SE Asia until they shutter their sex industry?
2) Should UK men who go hooking for Thai 18 yr olds have their nuts cut off?

Two thirds of the audience would say 'yes', (and thats only because the other third are male viewers from Derbyshire hoping to see Vietnamese schoolgirl tits)

In general, sex tourists and Uk men living in Thailand are seen as part of the Glitter problem, not the solution.

Don't know what the pulse is on this issue in the USA. In the UK it has become absurdly overblown.

The Press fans the flames, implying that everyone working with kids is diddlying them.

If kids are killed, that act generates less public anger and sorrow than the news that someone has taken a furtive photo of a child taking a dump behind a hedgerow.

Hysteria.

There was an excellent "Brass Eye" programme made about it.

Why can we no longer think of the British Isles without the word "PEDOPH" in front of it. Classic stuff!!

How can you blame something which doesn't exist?

Nice try at a defense. Not sure it'll stand up in court though.

How do you know God doesn't exist?

You can't prove he does, but you also can't prove he doesn't either, until you die that is.

No evidence. You'd think there might be for something alleged to have created everything...
