Saudi Arabia - Paedophile to be beheaded

Paedophile to be beheaded and crucified in Saudi Arabia for string of sex attacks where he left toddler to die in desert

Tough justice: The man lost his appeal at a court in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
A man in Saudi Arabia is to be beheaded and crucified after he raped five children and left one of them, a three-year-old boy, to die in the desert.
An appeal court in the capital Riyadh approved the death sentence handed down in June by judges in the northwestern oasis city of Hail where the convicted 22-year-old man carried out his crimes.
The rapist - who was not named - was arrested several weeks ago as he tried to seize another boy after offering him a ride home from school.
The seven-year-old - who escaped unharmed - helped identify the culprit.
The man’s victims were aged between three and seven. He was said to have lured them into his car as they left school at midday and then drove them to remote desert locations to rape them.
An investigation was launched after a 25-year-old father reported that his three-year-old son was missing and that he suspected the kidnapper to be a male driver of a white four-wheel drive vehicle.
The infant was later found under a scorching sun in the desert where he had died of thirst.
A panel of three judges in Hail sentenced the rapist to death for “abhorrent” crimes which they said had terrorised the community.
Crucifixion in the conservative desert Kingdom means tying the convict’s body to wooden beams to be displayed to the public after he is decapitated by a professional swordsman.
Saudi Arabia has executed 56 people this year under laws that allow the death penalty for rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking.
In extreme cases, the convict is executed and his body crucified in public

Paedophile to be beheaded

Public display of a beheaded corpse is in itself a barbaric act and displays a lack of sensitivity for their own people. Whilst the public needs to be protected from offenders such as this imho a life prison sentence would suffice. Acts of a barbaric nature authorised by the rulers/judicary only serve to halt progress.

Only the chairman hits the right note IMO. Slavering over be headings and crucifixion and trying to top each other up on other suggested torture is hardly more civilised than the acts of the criminal in question.

We're not aiming for more civil.
As the father of a 3 year old boy when I think of that little kid in pain and confusion out in the desert by himself just wanting his mothers comfort, but dying alone and abandoned instead any thoughts about civilized behavior flee my mind to be replaced by thoughts of what I would actually like that guy to suffer. Which is actually to be crucified in the desert and left to die with a picture of that little boy in front of him.
Beheading by an experienced swordsman is too humane.

This should really scare the locals. Rough justice, but, perhaps its for the best. 22 years old & already done 5 kids - with one fatality.

I was under the impression that in Saudi, the death penalty can only be carried out with the agreement of the victims family.

Quite useless discussing the subject when the comments supporting the execution of pedophiles are systematically deleted. I'm from America and the State of Texas had capital punishment for pedophiles until it was struck down by the US Supreme Court, so the idea is not that outrageous.

Texas is a planet all of its own.

I think if the state or the society sets a barbaric example, people will think it's OK to do these kind of things. It can only have negative effects while providing only the most superficial and short-lived relief to the victims.

Speaking with the other crucified guy: Forgive them, for they know not what they do. Certainly the misguided pedophile committing unspeakable crimes to humanity didn't know what he was doing - can a sane person commit such acts? We need to prevent this guy from ever doing this again, obviously, but that's the extent to which justice can be served. No releasing after 20 years, etc. The crimes were too severe for that.

Saying this as the father of two toddlers. I cannot imagine if this happened to my kids. But I know what I would do. First off, if I was there to in any way interfere, I would go to any length to stop it, including killing the offender. Clearly, and without a second thought. But that's self defense - difference! If it already had happened, would it make me feel better if I could torture the guy for 5 days alone in the desert before finally killing him? Most definitely not. Would it help if he got beheaded? I don't think so - he isn't that important in the grand scheme of things.

The other argument pro would be the value in dissuading other crazies from doing the same thing. I think there we could all agree that an insane pedo/killer won't be dissuaded by anything.

Actually I'm against the death penalty because of the inequality of our legal system. In America, and probably most other countries, how much money you have determines the level and quality of your defense attorneys, and a system that imperfect should not be allowed to execute people.

As mentioned above.....and as a father of 2 young kids, try to imagine what the child went through over the entire period and what he was thinking.

Only then can you believe there is no real suitable punishment for people of this type.

Personaly, I like the idea of being strung to a cross out in the desert and I set up a tent nearby, nice and shaded with an esky for coolade....and a dart gun......sit there in the shade over a 24hour period and fire darts at him all day long.
