UK man left with half a head, no charges to be made.

Two thugs who punched a young man so hard surgeons had to remove half of his skull have escaped charges.

Steve Gator, 26, has been told the teenagers who ambushed him will not face court after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case.

The CPS said it did not have enough evidence to proceed but Steve's mother, Nina, expressed her disbelief at the decision.

"Our boy is walking around with half a head - what more evidence do they need?" said Mrs Gator, 47. "I can't believe it."

Mr Gator, of Romford, Essex, was left seriously brain damaged following the attack as he made his way home from work on January 15.

The two thugs started screaming taunts and abuse at him about his cousin but when he confronted them he was hit so hard he fell back and smashed his head on the pavement.

That's a messed up story man! I know crime is on the rise everywhere but I never really feel in danger of violent crime here, wrongly or rightly, stories like this one remind me of how safe it is here compared to the UK. You have to do something pretty dump here to get into trouble and I'm way more careful of foreigners than I am of Thais. In a safety sense, and many other senses of course, I'd take Bangkok over Nottingham/Newcastle/Birmingham city centers any day.

Too true, I only feel unsafe when there are (usually) British pissed up thugs strolling about. In all my time here the only grief I've experienced has been from English guys.

This story really is horrific. I guess folks will say he's lucky to be alive...but I'm not so sure. Poor guy. I guess there really are fates worse than death. Somebody really needs to do something about those c*nts that did this to him.

It's odd how many thugs a falling through the net these days. But surely they could have done something for that guy to make him look a little better.

Hopefully if somebody comes up with the funding the lad`s mother might be able to bring a private prosecution against these thugs. Seems inhuman that they can be allowed to get away with this.

My mate got burgled and his precious Hi Fi was stolen. Amazingly the Police stopped the car and found the loot in the boot. He got his stuff back but there was no prosecution of the crooks as they claimed somebody else must have put the goods in their car, true story.

The mum looks tough enough to be able to take out the two attackers on her own.

I suppose that there are so many assault cases going to court these days judges are becoming oblivious and apathetic to the actual crime commited.

Similar to how doctors treat outpatients these days. Sit behind their desks, ask a few questions and fill out a prescription, thanks for coming have a nice day.

So many cases don't make it to court because (like this one) the Crown Prosecution Service decide there is not enough evidence!

A good mate of mine is a copper and he reckons it's gutting when he does a load of work trying to get a convition just for the CPS to sling it out before it's even heard!
Well, luckily I didn't have any tortoises on me at the time...

I do hate stories that give people the opportunity to slag off brit thugs.I am a Brit and have a number of British and international friends who do not go out looking for trouble.
Sadly these people attract news coverage and some of them end up here on holiday in a group of like minded individuals.
What pssesses them to come here as a small mob and start behaving like they own the place? It is beyond reason.
I sat in a restaurant this evening and three Brit lads walked past fefing and blinding loudly on their way out fo the evening.
I have a premonition that the evening will end badly for them, by their spoken word and their body language.
I am ashamed of my connection to them, but i hope they end up in a Thai prison instead of a Brit one.
