Australia : Queensland dad arrested in child sex net bust

Queensland dad arrested in child sex net bust
    Mon Sep 7 2009

A Queensland man has been arrested and charged.

A seven-month operation tracking international alleged sex predators on the internet has culminated in the arrest of a 44-year-old father of three in rural Queensland.

Canadian detective Mike MacFarlane, posing as a 14-year-old girl on an internet chat room, was contacted by the Queensland man in February, police allege.

During the next seven months the man allegedly used a webcam to expose his genitals to the officer and attempted to make arrangements for the "14-year-old" to travel to Australia.

Det MacFarlane kept his identity hidden by rejecting the man's requests to appear on a webcam, it is alleged.

The detective, posing as the teen girl, said "her" parents would not allow her to use a webcam.

"He did the usual talking and decided to expose himself on his webcam and tried to commission this young girl to do some things sexual to himself," Det MacFarlane told The Canadian Press.

"He'd tell me that he loved me and that he missed me and that he wants me to come there."

The detective, based at New Westminster, British Columbia, contacted Australian authorities when he discovered the man had three children, including an 11-year-old girl.

Australian authorities charged the man with one count of using a carriage service to groom a person under 16 years of age and one count of using the internet to expose indecent matter to a child under the age of 16 years

Hmm. I am making a wild guess that the detective, posing as a 14 year old was a wee bit older than 16. Going to be interesting to see if a savvy lawyer cares to drive a truck through that little mess.
