Thread: Gang Set Tourist's Hair On Fire On Train

Police are searching for a group of youths who left a tourist "extremely distressed" after they set fire to her hair in an unprovoked attack on a train.


CCTV images captured the moment the victim was set alight on a rail service from Hastings to London's Charing Cross on Sunday July 19.


The Swedish woman, a teacher on a school trip, was walking through a carriage at around 6.30pm when one of the gang held out a lighter and touched her hair.


It immediately caught alight, but the woman only realised what was happening when her students starmed screaming and pointing at her head.


British Transport Police said she was "incredibly lucky" to have managed to pat out the flames before they caused any injury.

"Within a few more seconds the majority of her hair could have been on fire, causing her serious harm," BTP Inspector Gary Ancell, who is leading the inquiry, said.


"Assaults of this nature are extremely rare on the railway system but I am treating this incident very seriously and urge the youths pictured in the CCTV images or anyone who recognises them to come forward to police."


Police are hunting four youths, two of whom were thrown off the train by a conductor who found them hiding in the toilet after the incident.

yes, no doubt had the country had the death penalty this wouldnt have applied., i think you forgot to mention the gun laws too!

No, in the USA not all blacks act that way and some are very good citizens, but the majority gives all a bad name.
Anyone can search and find DOJ files or police files that state the race and color of victims and perps, but most don't as it is not PC to state race anymore unless the perp is white, but does seem to be coming back into vogue.

There should be some sort of ban on lighters.

Setting someones (head hair) alight is no joke as it could cause some serious and very painful burns.

But this story does bring back some comical memories from years ago. A friend of mine had pretty hairy legs. So when he was asleep in a chair I set light to the hair on his legs at the bottom of his leg. It went like a forest fire up his leg till he woke up and slapped it out. No humans were injured in the joke, but it did stink the room out.

From the video and the report it seems that this certainly wasn't any premeditated gang attack deserving of the death penalty. It does look like one young lad did a very stupid and impulsive thing (intended as a juvenile joke) that could have caused serious injury to another person, and when he realized how dumb it was, he wanted to run away. The fact that his mates stuck together with him when the boy with the lighter realized he had done a very bad thing and they all went to hide in the toilet hardly makes this group of adolescents a criminal "gang".

These young lads hardly look like your typical criminal gang of youths.
14 to 18 years old and running scared after one of their friends initiated a foolish and dangerous prank I would more likely think.


The kid with the lighter deserves to be dealt with under law, which would probably result in a suspended sentence if he showed remorse and regret, as I expect he would from the video.

I say set the little bastard's hair on fire and watch him laugh about it himself.

It just seems that they are to easily accessible these days, have to be some stricter controls.
