    'Fear Mongering' at its best

In the 'Times online' recently, 99% of the people that left comments in protest to the possible mandatory injections were censored by the government.

Swine flu is a greater threat to Britain than terrorism, said Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary, as pregnant women were advised to avoid unneccessary travel.

Mr Johnson insisted that measures were in place to deal with the spread of the virus but urged people to adhere to good hygene practices to limit the risk to themselves and others.

He said: "We have been preparing for this for a long time. It came actually above terrorism as a threat to this country, so we had the whole Cobra machinery and inter-agency working. We have gone through simulation exercises where everyone was involved.

Mr Johnson told BBC1's Andrew Marr Show: "What we are finding is that it is attacking the young rather than the elderly, who traditional seasonal flu would attack.

"But in the vast majority of cases it is a mild illness. We have got stocks of anti-virals to cover over 50% of the population and a vaccine on the way."

His words come as mothers-to-be were advised to steer clear of crowded areas.

Right, swine flu has incovenienced less people than the regular flu, or alcohol, or cigarettes (especially if you are caucasian - odd pathology, but not surprising)

Yet, swine flu is the new soundbyte of the day. Dumb politicians.

The whole swine flu is just a heap of crap.

Drug companies will be getting grants worth millions and millions to find an antiviral which will combat it, but by the time that they do and the millions and millions have been used up, there will be another emergency, where they will have to apply for millions and millions to find the cure for that one.

Just rubbish! Politicians so scared that they will believe anything the drug companies tell then and give them carte blanche to cover their own bums.

I dunno, for my money the 2004 US Presidential election was fearmongering at it's best.

Swine flu comes in a close second, though.

Just goes to show how easily hysteria can be spread by the media worldwide... Imagine what they could do if they had a real agenda to push...
