Riverbed death: man charged with murder

A woman's body was found in the dry riverbed of the Todd River in Alice Springs. (Kirsty Nancarrow)

A 44-year-old man has been charged with murder over the death of a woman in Alice Springs last night.
Police say they received a call about 11pm alerting them to a body in the Todd River bed near Undoolya Road.
Detective Sergeant Leith Phillips says the 41-year-old woman was dead when police arrived at the scene.
He says police think violence was involved.
"The lady appears to have extensive injuries to her body.
"The nature of those injuries I can't confirm at this time as we're attempting to conduct an autopsy later on today.
"The results of that autopsy won't be known until tomorrow morning."
The man is expected to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Maybe she got the injurys when she fell in the river and was floundering around trying to get out.

Never can tell what it is like drowning in a dry rocky riverbed.

Nothing out of the ordinary for Alice Springs. She probably tried to protect herself with her silver handbag but it was no match for a frozen Kangaroo tail.

I wasn't expecting heartfelt sympathy, but laughter and ridicule is just pretty shallow.
If it doesn't interest you and you are so world weary of hearing about violent deaths, why say anything at all?
I dont care who she was, but no one deserves to have people laugh about her death or circumstances of it.
