£406m of cocaine found on yacht
The find may be the largest in Europe this year
Cocaine worth an estimated £406m has been seized by the Irish authorities from a yacht 200 miles off the south-west coast of Ireland.
One-and-a-half tonnes of the drug were found on a 60ft yacht stormed by armed officers on Wednesday night. The yacht had been tracked from the Caribbean.
Two British men and a man from Dublin, all aged between 44 and 52, have been arrested in connection with the find.
They were brought ashore over Thursday night and were due to be questioned.
The boat was being brought to shore in Cork under guard by the Irish navy.
The haul is one of the largest drugs seizures in Europe this year and is expected to eclipse last year's record find off County Cork.
The Minister for Defence, Willie O'Dea has congratulated the Naval Service on the success of this operation.
"It is a timely reminder to us all of the dangers the Naval Service confronts in the assistance it gives to the gardaí and Customs Assets in respect of drug interdiction," he said.
"It is also clear evidence that Ireland has a Naval Service that is a multi-skilled, highly-trained force."
