Oh dear. If this gets some sort of official statement form the US confirming its true another can of worms has been opened.
^ they are looking into it, as they have no fucking clue who is doing what over there
If it was last week or last month, which would tie in perfectly with other regional and global social, economic and diplomatic issues, would that also be curious - or could this be just another characteristic Beeb slant?Quote:
Its timing is curious, coming right at the end of the Bush administration's period of office and at a moment when many of America's European allies - like Britain and France - are trying to broaden their ties with Damascus, our correspondent adds.
I'm not defending the action, because there are conflicting claims as usual, civilian on one side and a legitimate military objective on the other.
As to kids being killed, in this context the status of the target is relevant...if it was a civilian construction or area, as claimed by the Syrians, then the US goofed, but otherwise it is reasonable to question yet again the motives of those willing to place kids within a legitimate line of fire.
^News Flash.
These civilians ARE legitimate military objectives.
Some have forgotten that the taliban and AQ men women and children that plant roadside IEDs and strap suicide vests to retarded old ladies and blow up Iraqi police recruiting stations are civilians.
Conventional reporting paints all civilians as innocents.
BBC is a joke.
US doing it's best to fuck up everyones mind and get them on the same thinking path as Texpat.
Fact, US is responsibile for the most civilian casualties.
Fact, Islam terrorist have killed and are still killing innocent civilians.
The difference is when the US and it's Allies kill thousands (over a million in Iraq since 1990) is done so with a better future in mind! At least that what folks like textpat think.
Eyewitness accounts said eight US soldiers landed in two helicopters and that the dead were building workers. A senior Syrian source quoted by the official Sana news agency, said four helicopters violated Syrian airspace and described the target as a "civilian building under construction".
In Washington an unnamed military official told the Associated Press the raid had targeted elements of a "foreign fighter logistics network", and that, due to Syrian inaction, the US was "taking matters into our own hands". It was the first known American attack on Syrian soil.

Every suicide bomber in Iraq, every insurgent in London, the Bali bombers, the 9-11 hijackers, every Taliban and AQ member -- what do they all have in common?
They're civilians -- and therefore off limits to every tree-hugging pacifist limp dick with a death wish.
Brilliant, lovely.
As US soldiers are said to have landed, best guess is that they hit their intended construction site with military objectives. Keeping in mind the sensitive issues surrounding not only AQ but also Syria, I can't see them invading Syrian territory to kill a few kids. Naive perhaps but, well, wtf.
Also wouldn't place too much faith in Sana's account without more evidence in support, and last I heard certain types of civilian use rocket launchers and IEDs, sometimes even from civilian, mosque-like sanctuaries.
mosque-like sanctuaries ...
How do the Syrians know the invaders in question weren't Hollywood actors (civilians)? Likely Mexicans.
Did they ID them?
How difficult would it be for a group of Syrians to stitch together some US Army uniforms and paint US Army on a helicopter?
Whatever the Syrians say, BBC will swallow -- much like the US plane full of general officers forced to land in Iran ...
Well it is almost election time in the US.
And killing a few "suspected" terrorists is always good for the bloodthirsty right wingers. As Tex points out, -- women and kids are fair game for the US military.
Hope those boys are real proud of themselves.
Interesting that these news items and related are usually vacant in U.S. news circles.
Good reason for Russia to boost it's arms sale.
