    Data breakdown in the UK

    It's all gone Pete Tong!

    No mobile phone networks,data,Internet.

    Business suffering.

    The Independent Tech
O2's data network has been offline for more than 12 hours and nobody appears to have any idea when it will come back online.

Both the network itself as well as Ericsson – whose software appears to be to blame for the problems – has repeatedly committed to bring the data service back online as soon as they can.

How tragic is that. People sat next to each other will be obliged to speak.

Except in London, where no one speaks to anyone else in public. lol

    Twats.

Earlier, Ericsson president Börje Ekholm gave more detail about the cause of the disruption.
He said "an initial root cause analysis" had indicated that the "main issue was an expired certificate in the software versions installed with these customers".
The company was carrying out "a complete and comprehensive root cause analysis", he added.

Is there some significance to you posting part of your bedroom ceiling collection on this thread?

Blimey you didn't even read your own links you post heh?

Anyway - I wonder if somewhere in some place, probably around tavistock square, a security firm was running a drill on what would happen if the mobile communication networks failed "and then all of a sudden we went live".

    This guy running it perhaps?

I read enough to know it was a schoolboy error.

I'm not obsessed with poring over pictures of strange men. You're weird.

Considering that they compensated a lot of their customers with an 87p credit, this could be a nice little earner...

O2 UK could receive compensation of up to £100 million from Ericsson following a network outage caused by the vendor, which led to mobile data issues for millions of customers last week.

UK newspapers reported O2 UK will push for damages worth millions from Ericsson over a software failure the vendor admitted it was responsible for. The issue meant customers using O2’s network were unable to access mobile data on 6 December and 7 December.

The Guardian reported O2 chief executive Mark Evans is set to meet Ericsson executives over the coming days to review what caused the outages and negotiate a compensation package.

Around 30 million people use O2’s network, of which 25 million are direct subscribers and 5 million are customers of MVNOs Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile, GiffGaff and Lycamobile. The company also has a number of big corporate customers including Transport for London (TfL), which provides live location data for 8,500 buses in the city.
