Damn. Just bought a new one today. Very Smart. Took 4 hrs just figuring how to turn the bloody thing on. TV clearly much smarter than me.

2 questions. 1) Can my TV send vids to the CIA? 2) Is wanking using a warm hunk of liver a crime?

    Eagerly await a prompt reply.

Canada certainly has enough (issues) on its own plate, to begin with,...rather than getting involved w/ that nonsense.

As I posted on another thread, when the simpletons accept innuendo and racism as facts, when the other suppliers are exposed as performing dastardly deeds it is a little rich to suggest one company is or has been any worse.

But as none of the allegations have been proven the sheeple keep drinking the koolaid.

I'm sure in the BT case the accusers of one supply company will be releasing their methodology of the risk and make available to all, how one supplier is much more at risk than the others. Similarly the ameristan, NZ and OZ governments.

But it is "highly likely" nothing will be presented for scrutiny. Nothing has been offered currently. And no there is no UNSC resolution banning supplying telecoms equipment to Iran. Much as 'arry would like to suggest, with the usual lack of any evidence.

All these scare stories about evil China spying on westerners through their technology is all because China is dominating in the global tech sector(...the overweight, dum and lazy Americans can't keep up), particularly in 5G at the moment, hence all the hand wringing and scare mongering about Huawei telecommunication hardware....while Facebook gets a free pass!!!

Canada was a great country 50 years ago.

I remember Canada giving shelter to Americans avoiding the Vietnam draft, something like that would be unthinkable these days.

The people that own the USA have a strong mantra that competition is a sin. In reality they are massively anti free trade. What confuses people is them basically their companies have unfettered access to the US markets and to ship the US made stuff over seas. It is most certainly not about allowing firms they have no control (or profit from) to get entry and grow. It's why the US, and indeed the world, is constricting more and more each year with massive monopolies and cartels, all pretty much run by the same group.

FFS Mr wu mao. Let me be more clear.
It's because of this. All the hand wringing and white knighting for poor old picked on China.

Huawei is a private company. However there are fears it and other Chinese manufacturers can be compelled by the Chinese security services to help with intelligence gathering. The national intelligence law passed this year requires all organisations and citizens to assist the country’s spy agencies
    Note the last 5 words.

We do but these days it's cheeper to import all the plastic crap and textiles. Bringing back isolationism isn't at the heart of the matter though Im all for the made in the USA craze of yesteryear.

A truce to a trade war? Think about it for a second. Winners, loosers?
