What a beat up this story is.

Any cafe should be within its rights to ask people to buy something if they want to either use the bathroom or even just hang out in the place.

Why did they have to wait for their friend before buying a coffee?

It seems they had actually been asked to leave and refused so they can hardly complain if the manager then calls the po-po.

Seems like a staged politcal pantomime.

I had a date with an Iranian lady (my second ever lady doctor) a while back and I was waiting for her in the cafe and wanting to see if she would order alcohol before I ordered a beer (always feels funny drinking a beer if the girl is drinking coffee) but the waiter said I needed to order something as the cafe was busy so I did.

If only I had been black I could have pulled this victim stunt.

    ^ Exactly.

Business is tuff enough these days without the event of having your ability to earn impeded.

Better to blame the inconsiderate bloke who turned up late for the meeting.

When you need the toilet you gotta go, now obviously toilets are designed for customers only, but in the UK if serve food/drinks other than a take away have to have toilets as do betting shops and large supermarkets. Betting shops are always my fall back if in a town I don't know but Macdonalds and KFC equally suffice and never once come across a locked toilet or been challenged for not ordering anything but then I just walk straight in and out. Even when I ran a pub back in the 90s in the UK if someone walked in and asked to use the toilet would never say no as that's just cuntish in fact gave them kudos for actually having the decency to ask which most don't. The US seems one fucked up society to me.

^ I remember Big Dave in Jools refusing people such privileges unless they purchased a drink. People also who wanted to change money for taxi fares were told to ferk off unless they purchased a beverage.

In Thailand you risk having a key run down the side of your car if you park it in front of a shop you are not patronising even on a public road.

^^ My sentiments entirely as far as the toilets are concerned but have no idea how long these guys had been sitting at a table waiting for their friend.

I have seen people outstay their welcome far too often in these places. A polite reminder to order or re-order, especially when busy is not uncommon.

As for Starbucks, it is not to my taste, I have used them as a meeting point but only outside. I prefer real coffee...

Big Dave is now potless living in Wales after getting cleaned out by his x wife. He's a stick insect now so no longer Big Dave but little Dave. Always gives me a chuckle with his never ending warnings to anyone who would listen then he ends up getting cleaned out himself and he used to be worth a small fortune.

Made his fortune when Iraq invaded Kuwait, he managed to transfer/ steal a load of money out of the country while in hiding. He used to be a total monger and would advise everyone against having a relationship with a Thai, then he marries one, sells up and moves up to the boonies and gets wiped out to the tune of millions. Somewhere like Methyr Tydfil where can buy a property for the price of a bag of rice is where he's ended up.

They had been in the store a couple minutes. No indication they were directly asked to leave. Just asked if they were going to order anything. At which point the cops were called.

It's hardly surprising this is what your friends are for.

    Great caption. Thanks for sharing.

Actually we blacks are not as astute, as some others are, for (constantly) making the world feel guilty about our 17th.-19th. Centuries (controlled) Golden Triangle Holocaust. But then, we blacks don't control the American broadcast media, either. Indeed, the constipation never seems to cease.

A note-worthy achievement, especially when pulled-off by some un-educated, dim-witted Thai bargirl (country-girl), who was probably young enough to be his grand-daughter. The book "Money_Number_One", extensively mentions arrogant blokes like "Big Dave". There are several farang blokes, just like him, in my neighborhood, of whom I politely speak to, but I also maintain considerable (avoidance) distance,............away from them, as well!

Wrong! All things of the ultimate outcome considered, apparently Big Dave didn't even own his own brain, in the LS! That was probably in his bar-girl's name, as well. Duh!

Will probably do little to convince those that decided these two were guilty of being black in a public place or somehow engineered the whole incident as some sort of stunt, but they settled with the city for a symbolic payment of $1 each and secured a commitment for $200,000 in funding for a program for high school students aspiring to become entrepreneurs:
