Reassuring refrains from the POTUS ... a moral justification for their high-ground.

    From the Pentagon

"Tonight, France, the United Kingdom and the United States took decisive action to strike the Syrian chemical weapons infrastructure.
Clearly the Assad regime did not get the message last year," US Defence Secretary James Mattis said.

"This time our allies and we have struck harder. Together we have sent a clear message to Assad and his murderous lieutenants that
they should not perpetrate a chemical weapons attack for which they will be held accountable. "

Our fingerprints never fade from the lives we touch

Highly unlikely Assad gassed his own civilians. IF, a big IF he did use chems, it was with Putin's knowledge and consent against a far greater threat to the west than Assad could ever be. But skittish leaders more concerned with ratings than wog lives have serially blundered so catastrophically that they can no longer tell who is on which side and who prays daily for their death, often with their own training and weapons and patronage.

IF Syria is ever saved from becoming an Islamic state, another big IF, it will be no thanks to anything the US and Europe have done in the region. And stand by for more fun when the EU army becomes a reality and a new batch of unelected political controllers try to show the world how dumb a warrior nation can be.

    Interesting times.

Hopefully Vlad will now have a quiet word in Assad's ear and tell him to stop fucking around with his toys.

Which is precisely the point of this operation.

Although it's a sad world we live in when the world says "It's OK to bomb the shit out of innocent civilians but you can't use chemical weapons".

Not bad, the first two sentences diametrically opposite to the truth.

Of course it was Assad, and of course Vlad didn't know, as he's smart enough to know there would be consequences and would have stopped it.

That's why the attacks were targeted at Syrian facilities (and were probably told to Vlad beforehand).

Russia will grumble like the cold war bear they are under Putin, but they'll get the message.

Oh dear, look what it did to Alex Jones.

President Donald Trump's announcement that he authorized a military airstrike on Syria made InfoWars founder Alex Jones completely lose it and break down in tears during a bizarre livestream Friday night.

Shortly after Trump said he was joining forces with
France and Britain in a coordinated 'precision strike', Jones hopped on a two-hour InfoWars livestream saying Trump's decision made him 'sick'.

'They said if you just turn against Trump it would be better, but he was doing good, and that's what makes it so bad,' he said, getting emotional.

The Pentagon said the US and its allies fired more than 100 missiles from ships and aircraft.
They are using the famous B1 Bomber

It could not confirm how many missiles hit their targets.

A pro-Assad official said about 30 missiles were fired at Syria and that about a third were shot down.
(looks like they actually got a few!)

Several explosions were heard in Damascus. Black plumes of smoke were seen rising from in the east,
    and the sky turned orange.

After the attack finished vehicles with loudspeakers roamed the capital's streets blaring nationalist songs.

In a tweet, Syrian opposition leader Nasra al-Hariri called for an end to what he described as all attacks against
civilians by the Syrian state and its allies, whether using chemical or conventional weapons.

"Maybe the regime will not use chemical weapons again, but it will not hesitate to use weapons the international
community has allowed it, such as barrel bombs and cluster bombs," Mr Hariri said.

    What we know:

    • US, UK and France have launched "precision strikes" in Syria in response to the use of chemical weapons

    • The strikes hit a research centre, a chemical weapons storage facility and a command post, according to the Pentagon

    • US Defence Secretary confirms the wave of air strikes is over, calls the attack a "one-time shot"

    • Russia says the majority of missiles fired were intercepted by Syria, according to TASS news agency

"The one time shot" is highly unlikely. UK intelligence considers it highly unlikely.

Nice bit of duplicity there Erdogan!

Turkey on April 14 welcomed Western strikes targeting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime as an "appropriate response" in retaliation for a suspected chemical attack that left dozens dead.

"We welcome this operation which has eased humanity’s conscience in the face of the attack in Douma, largely suspected to have been carried out by the regime," the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement.

    <snip>

"The Syrian regime, which has been tyrannising its own people for more than seven years, be it with conventional or chemical weapons, has a proven track record of crimes against humanity and war crimes," the ministry said.
"The conscience of the international community is in no doubt about that."

It had to be. The remorse will come few years later how the poor Chemical Lady was misled (similarly like her pal Tony)...
After all, no war has been started without a good and peace-loving purpose...
