He’s 87 and looking to be a trucker

He’s 87 and looking to be a trucker so he can afford his sick wife’s medical bills

Robert Blocksom has already sold his home, mobile trailer and some other personal belongings, so now he’s looking for an income, the 87-year-old retiree told WEWS.

But he’s not just looking for any job — he’s looking to be a truck driver, the TV station reported.

“I’ve always liked driving, so I figured that I’d like to be able to make some money driving,” he told WEWS. “That would be the best way to do it.”

He is looking for a truck driving job as he is struggling to afford his sick wife’s medical bills in Ohio, People reported.
    ---
But Blocksom is not alone. In the last 12 months, 255,000 Americans who are 85 or older were working, according to the Post.

Yes, and the "socialist" medical help will help him.

I'd like to see Trump driving a truck at 87.
Perhaps the laundry truck within the prison compound.

This is the only thing working in his favor:

Industries, like the trucking industry, who years ago might not have given Blocksom a shot, could now do just that.
“The shortage of drivers spans the entire country and virtually every trucking company in the United States," Frank Gagyi, President of the Buckeye Interimobile Trucking company in Cleveland said.
Nowadays...If you're above room tempature you have a shot. But that(inexperienced and really unqualifed new drivers) is leading to more carnage on the highways involving trucks.

IMHO this guy is too old to get in this game now.

Blocksom still has to pass his commercial driver's licenses test for him to start working. His classes for that test start next month. He said the ideal shift would be local weekend trips, so he can still care for his wife.
Good luck with that local thing.

Dear ao (the one who likes the red paint so much),
How long will it take to the most developed countries (please no names here) to come to such "undeveloped" standard?

Obama tried to get national health care and it worked. Who is taking it apart?

    That's really a success.

BTW, in Russia they have enjoyed it for some 100 years...

What the OP "news" story really is...putting lipstick on a pig.

Oh look, isn't it great that our society is so fucked up that an 87 year old man needs to go back to work to help pay for his wife's medical bills. What a heartwarming bit of filler that was.

And other younger citizens have to go to fight the terrorists around the world, helping to spread up democracy. That's all need a lot of money, nothing left for such foolishness as old-age pension and free medicare...

Other countries do not spend their money (or just a few) on such activities - they do not care about the democracies of others - so their money will be spared for other ("selfish" ) purposes...

^And other countries don't have false prophets who give huge gifts to their corporate run health insurance industries while pretending it's a great deal for the people.

^And the other countries do not need to spend big money on the perpetrators bringing poison disguised as Nina Ricci perfume.

How generous from them - the ones who protect the former enemy's spies against the murderous (synchronized) perpetrators - that they do not mind the spent money (of taxpayers)...
