Grace Mugabe to be stripped of her post

Since taking power, the military has arrested about a dozen senior officials and ministers loyal to Grace Mugabe, 52. She has not been seen since the take[at]over. Sources said she was in her husband’s Harare residence when he was detained and has not left. Zanu-PF branches in all 10 provinces called on Friday for Mugabe to be recalled as first secretary of the party.

The motions also called for Grace Mugabe to be stripped of her post chairing the Zanu-PF women’s league. She is a divisive figure who has outraged many with her extravagance, violent outbursts and political ambitions. Mugabe could theoretically continue as president, even if he were no longer leader of Zanu-PF, but this would be difficult in practice, party insiders said.

Relatives said he and Grace were “ready to die for what is correct” and had no intention of stepping down to legitimise the military coup. [at]Speaking to Reuters from a secret [at]location in South Africa, Patrick Zhuwao, Mugabe’s nephew, said on Saturday that his uncle had hardly slept since the [at]military [at]take[at]over, but his health was [at]otherwise good.

The coup is thought to have been prompted in part by fears among the military and its allies in the ruling party of an imminent purge of Grace Mugabe’s rivals that would have allowed her to exercise greater power. Zimbabweans abroad demonstrated against their president yesterday. Hundreds in Britain gathered outside the embassy in London calling on Mugabe to step aside. Similar rallies were held in South Africa and Namibia.

Mnangagwa is smart enough to allow the people to blow off steam, saves rioting in the streets then have a big crackdown.
Mnangagwa has got rid of all the competing Zanu power faction so he is unchallenged leader,Chinese must be happy,no looking at their electronic spying
listening base or precious metal mining.
Zanu will not have a free election, they only understand that power is for them alone plus they don't want a new Govt poking about to find who in the new leadership
has enriched themselves along with Bob because 10's of billions were nicked.

You may want to examine the outside observers report on the last election prior to insuating skullduggery.

One presumes electronic spying bases are preferable to armed drone and "special operation" armed foreign agents bases.

Do you mean "Are there any successful (black-ruled) countries in Africa", instead? If your answer is "yes", then my reply to your question is absolutely NO!

President Robert Mugabe was dismissed as leader of Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF party on Sunday in a move to force a peaceful end to his 37 years in power following a de facto military coup.
He was replaced by Emmerson Mnangagwa, the deputy he sacked this month, sources at a special ZANU-PF meeting to decide Mugabe's fate told Reuters.
'He has been expelled,' one of the delegates said. 'Mnangagwa is our new leader.'
Mugabe's wife Grace, who had harboured ambitions of succeeding Mugabe, was also expelled from the party.

His nephew, Patrick Zhuwao, told Reuters Mugabe and his wife were 'ready to die for what is correct' rather than step down in order to legitimise what he described as a coup.
I think they should do everything they can to accommodate his wish.

Christ I give up, on the Internet I saw a post about Emmerson , recently he had attended a funeral and at the service he spoke about how he had found Jesus and was a Christian who was going to fight for Christ, plus he read out a few bible verses.
Unbelievable the comments from dumb white Africans, they started praising the Lord for delivering a saviour, they trusted him now that he declared himself a Christian.
They are so easily led, or desperate.

Comrade Emmerson is a Gook who came close to being double tapped by an FN round, pity he slipped away like a crocodile.

OhOH, The Chinese have a operational military base in Djibouti,so that means they have both in Africa, they must be beating their anti-imperialist,
anti- colonialism,pro-dictator drum hard to fool the locals while they grab the resources and cement influence and dictate to scum like Mugabe and Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe Has Resigned

The embattled leader has formally stepped down from his position after mounting pressure from his own party.

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, who fought for the country's liberation and ruled for 37 years, has officially stepped down after facing mounting pressure from his own party.
His impeachment process — started today and was initiated by his party, ZANU-PF — was interrupted when the speaker of the house announced that parliament had received Mugabe's letter of resignation.
According to local media reports, Mugabe sent a letter of resignation to the parliament, which the speaker read during the session on Tuesday.
“My decision to resign is voluntary on my party and arises from my concern for the welfare of people in Zimbabwe and my desires to see a smooth, peaceful and non-violent transfer of power.Kindly give public notice of my resignation as soon as possible as required by the constitution,” the letter said.

It's far too early to celebrate his departure, anything can happen, this is Africa.
Already I am hearing rumours of the war drums of the Matabele, I scoffed, what weapons do they have, arms from South Africa.
We will see, as the only connection the Matabele have with SA is they are a rebel offshoot from the Zulu tribe under Shaka Zulu. SA President is a corrupt Zulu.
I personally just think it's rumours.

A picture of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, 93, and his wife Grace - purported to have been taken just before the nonagenarian signed his resignation letter on Tuesday - has gone viral on social media.

This is the first picture that has emerged since Mugabe stepped down.

The picture shows Mugabe and his wife with the veteran leader's "friends", including the country's former reserve bank governor Gideon Gono.

    Grace looks "humbled".

I suppose this is to keep down the rabble that support him.

Military authorities in Zimbabwe have agreed to grant the former president Robert Mugabe immunity from prosecution and told him his safety will be protected in his home country.

My apologies. I wasn't aware that Djibouti was governed by Zimbabwe.

Does China have drones and SO squads in Zimbabwe/Africa? Which anti-imperialists are in Africa/Zimbabwe and who are they?

China has been handing out favours in Africa since at least as long as I was there in the '80's.
