    Macron, Putin Discuss Propaganda, Syria

New French President Emmanuel Macron called RT (formerly Russia Today) television and Sputnik multi-media "propaganda" following his first face-to-face talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Macron called the outlets "organs of influence and propaganda" against him in this year's presidential elections, during which Putin was seen as supporting Macron's far-right rival Marine Le Pen. Alleged cyber attacks against Macron's campaign were also linked to Russia.

Putin denied the allegations during the news conference Monday at the palace of Versailles, saying the Kremlin did not try to influence the French vote, though he did defend a March meeting with Le Pen.

Macron said the two also discussed LGBT rights in Chechnya.

"President Putin told me ... he had undertaken several initiatives on the subject of LGBT people in Chechnya with measures aimed at establishing the whole truth about the activities of local authorities," Macron said.

    Ukraine

On the subject of Ukraine, Putin reiterated that he believes Western sanctions will do nothing to solve the conflict.

"Here is the answer: in no way. Let's fight for all the restrictions in the global economy to be scrapped," he told the news conference. Paris has played an active role in the West's punitive response to Moscow's actions in Ukraine.

The two leaders agreed to work together more closely to combat terrorism around the globe. Putin said Macron had proposed exchanging official delegations to work toward that goal during their talks.

    Syria

Macron told reporters he believes the two countries can work together to build peace in Syria, but that the use of chemical weapons in the war-torn country would be a "red line" for France.

Macron is the first European leader to meet with Putin following the meeting of the G-7 nations, where Macron said that "tough dialogue" with Russia was critical to Syria's future.

"It's indispensable to talk to Russia because there are a number of international subjects that will not be resolved without a tough dialogue with them," Macron told reporters at the end of the G-7 summit Saturday.

One really has to admire the Putin's cool and patience when accused by such rudiculous claims.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday delivered the world of journalism a severe blow when he repeated an alarming explanation as to why RT reporters were banned from his campaign headquarters during his electoral showdown against Marine Le Pen in April.
When questioned about the incident by RT France head Xenia Fedorova, Macron, with President Vladimir Putin at his side in the sumptuous Palace of Versailles, uttered an explanation so dripping in irony that even the Mona Lisa was reported to have cracked a toothy smile.

“They didn’t act like the media, like journalists. They behaved like deceitful propaganda,” Macron told the conference. “I have always had an exemplary relationship with foreign journalists, but they have to be real journalists.”

The dark irony about Macron’s response is that he has never produced a shred of evidence to support his claim of “fake news” from RT and Sputnik – real news organizations that employ real reporters with real media credentials, yet still could not pass French face control during a presidential election. In other words, what we have here is the leader of France – a proud nation that once upon a time suffered a historic revolution in the name of “liberty, equality and fraternity” – passing off what amounts to fake news and disinformation.

In actual fact, it was the Macron campaign spreading unsubstantiated claims about RT’s coverage of the French presidential election, with the likes of secretary-general of Macron’s En Marche! party Richard Ferrand and Macron aide Mounir Mahjoubi accusing RT of broadcasting “false information” about the then-candidate in February and March. The early claims were accompanied by a Reuters report falsely accusing RT of publishing comments by French National Assembly member Nicolas Dhuicq, which were critical of Macron. Reuters eventually corrected the story, but not before it was picked up by plenty of western media outlets.

Despite failing to back up the accusations with any links or accurately attributed quotes, En Marche! squarely blocked RT journalists from Macron’s headquarters during the two rounds of the election, not responding to the accreditation requests from RT and RT France. With their requests “still being processed,” RT’s producers and crew were eventually denied access to the Macron campaign HQ on April 23. Days before the May 7 run-off, En Marche! spokeswoman Laurence Haim walked away from a question about RT’s accreditation.

But he (Macron) said France and Russia, which backs Assad, should work together on Syria and he said he wanted France and Russia to boost sharing of intelligence in working together to find a political solution to the conflict.

Sounding less forthcoming, Putin said he was not sure if France's Syria policy was "independent" because it was part of a U.S-led alliance, adding that Paris and Moscow had both points of disagreement and agreement over Syria.

The French still are recovering from running scared in the second world war and have about as much influence in global politics as Quincey Jones has on the music scene these days.

Putin only went to Versailles to see what he could steal or have a free lunch.

What a complete and utter waste of time for global harmony.

I just got a text from The Don to post the above!

France has a cheek to accuse anyone of propaganda considering the bullshit they used to justify the destruction of Libya.

However, they have "proof" who was behind the chemical weapens in Syria... (perhaps Macrons showed the "proof" to Putin?)

(CNN)France has said that it has proof that the Syrian government was behind a chemical weapons attack in Syria earlier this month that killed 89 people.

The French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said that samples taken from the attack on the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun matched those from a previous incident.
"We have definite sources that the procedure used to make the Sarin sampled is typical of the methods developed in Syrian laboratories," he said. "This method bears the signature of the regime, and that is what has allowed us to establish its responsibility in this attack."
French laboratories had stored samples taken from other chemical attacks in Syria and so were able to compare them, he said.
A tweet posted by the French Foreign Ministry said: "There's no doubt that Sarin was used. There is also no doubt about the responsibility of the Syrian regime."

he had to kill him and create cahos for that alone
