Ventriloquist quizzed by police over sexual remarks his dummy made to woman

A ventriloquist says that he was questioned by police after his dummy was accused of making sexual remarks to a woman in the street.
Fundraiser David Sampson said police in Warwickshire quizzed him for an hour about his puppet Grisweld the Super Dog.

Mr Sampson insists the alleged incident could not have taken place because his dummy ‘doesn’t talk’ and could not have made the lewd remarks.
Mr Sampson says police visited his home before he was grilled over the incident at Rugby Police Station, during an interview he attended voluntarily.
He explained Grisweld could not speak during questioning.
Mr Sampson also denied making any rude remarks himself during the reported incident outside the Bull’s Head pub, in Brinklow, while promoting a show taking place on Valentine’s Day.

He said: ‘I was distributing leaflets. She claimed Grisweld gave her a load of sexual abuse and then hid in my trousers and said ‘why don’t you come and have a feel at this, missus?’
‘But Grisweld cannot get in my trousers. It never happened.’
He added: ‘She claimed Grisweld gave her a load of lewd words.

‘Whenever he’s appeared he’s always under the vet, he’s lost his bark, he doesn’t speak. He’s like Sooty. My dummy can’t speak.’
Asked if he’d made any rude comments himself, he said: ‘I didn’t. I was absolutely stunned at the language she said was used.’
Mr Sampson insists the allegations against him are motivated by a personal grudge.
He said: ‘Two police officers came to see me on a Saturday morning and took my statement about the meeting in the street.
‘Then I had an email saying they would like me to come to the station and make a recorded interview.
‘I said I didn’t want to do that, then the PC came round the following day and said if you don’t make a recorded interview voluntarily you will have to be arrested and taken down to the police station.’
He added: ‘At the station, I just said I hadn’t done anything. I thought I’m not going to take Grisweld with me.
‘I had already spoken to the PC and pointed out Grisweld could not physically get into my trousers.’
Mr Sampson says he has been left in the dark as to the status of the investigation.
Warwickshire Police have been approached for comment.

The lengths that some men go to , to pick up woman, walking around with a toy draped around his neck like a drag queen.

Any publicity is good publicity, eh Mr Sampson? Especially when you come off as the victim of false allegations.
