Mother 'told to prove lactation' at Frankfurt airport

A woman has filed a complaint with German police alleging she was told to squeeze her breast at airport security to prove she was lactating.

Gayathiri Bose told the BBC she was "humiliated" by the experience and would explore formal legal action.

She said police at Frankfurt Airport were suspicious because she was carrying a breast pump but travelling without her baby.

German police denied she had been asked to prove her ability to breastfeed.

They had earlier declined to comment on the specific allegations but said such measures were "clearly" not part of routine procedure.

    'Where is your baby?'

Ms Bose, who was travelling alone, said she was on her way to board a flight to Paris last Thursday when she was stopped at the security screening station.

The 33-year-old Singaporean said that after her carry-on bag, which contained her breast pump, went through the X-ray machine, she was taken aside for questioning.

"[They had] an incredulous tone. 'You are breastfeeding? Then where is your baby? Your baby is in Singapore?'," she said.

Ms Bose said the officers did not seem to believe her when she insisted the device was a breast pump.

Kind of a fair reaction, I would think.

Stupidity is the new imperative. So, tit pumps are a prohibited item in krautland? Fuck, the septic disease is spreading.

I thought that Germans were supposed to be direct speakers. Not sure why they just didn't tell the woman to get her tits out.

Their reaction to the machine and woman was OTT, IMO. It wouldn't have happened in Britain.

Not to me. She is a business woman on a trip and left her baby home. Reasonable. Not right to treat her that way.

Why is that unusual? It is Germany after all.

I'm just surprised they didn't ask her to piss on them.

The woman's baby was in Singapore, wasn't it? If so, why did she take the pump all the way to Germany?

^ Because she was lactating and needed to express the milk if her breasts became full. She likely wanted to resume breastfeeding when she arrived back home.

Boobs don't turn on and off like faucets.

Sadly the global virus called the USA, has already infected every corner of the planet.

There is no escaping the petro-greed swallowing the world up, and leaving oceans of plastic shit for everyone to choke on.

Makes sense. If she had the baby along no need for the pump. Yermans not too bright on logic in this case.

Reasonable if you consider their side of the story true. Mothers in Germany get 1 year paid leave, so they would be surprised to see a mother traveling without her baby.

If she had liquid in a bottle they would need to question her.

However, if her side is true and she was asked to squeeze a boob then unreasonable.

You seem to be missing the point like everyone else.

Why the fuck would you get all exercised and suspicious about a fucking tit pump?

Are there fucking exploding tit pumps made by ISIS?

"Everybody stand back!! I've got a loaded tit pump and I ain't afeard to use it!"

For fuck's sake, the fucking world is truly beyond redemption it's so fucking dumb.

I don't think I am. It was something out of the norm with her being without a child and they inquired as to its whereabouts. As to whether they asked her to get her tits out is open to investigation isn't it?

Not yet, as far as I know.

Anyway, it's none of the security twats' business if anybody carries a tit pump with them. Freedom is one of the highest goods in the German constitution - if I feel like it, I carry anything I want and they can get stuffed.
X-ray the darn thing and be done with it.

Err, is it the function of a security monkey charged with detecting prohibited items and maintaining the peace and security etc., to interrogate passengers on their possession of other non-lethal and innocent items, their domestic arrangements and their mammary expectoration?

Typically, like everywhere else on the planet, officers in authority are becoming increasingly stupid by the day. It's as if the plug of sanity has been ripped out of the world's core and we are all being sucked into a vortex of imbecility. Brexit, Trump, Putin....what's next?
