Judge orders Making a Murderer's immediate release.

Judge orders release of Making A Murderer's Brendan Dassey.

A US judge orders Dassey's immediate release from prison, despite the prosecutors' appeal against his conviction being overturned.

A judge has ordered that Brendan Dassey, whose conviction was overturned after featuring in the TV series Making A Murderer, should be released from prison.

A Wisconsin judge had already overturned Mr Dassey's conviction in September, but prosecutors appealed the ruling so that the 27-year old would remain in prison.

It's a very interesting TV series.

The police work on his case (both their cases really), and his conviction were absolutely horrendous.

Police in crime investigation should be limited to locating all potential witnesses and statements and dealing with the crime on a social/community/locale basis, with more of the human inter-reaction side of things, checking contacts, addresses, visas, passports etc, sleuthing it and getting a broad picture.

The * 'forensics' side of things has to be scientist directed, not policing directed, to avoid disturbing the provenance of and chain of custody of, any retrieved evidential material from that provenance(s) under investigation.

The average cops aren't called plods for nothing, they've got big-foot syndrome, walk all over evidence, everything.

    * (forensic = pertaining to an open court of law.
forensic science = science presentable as evidence in an open court of law.)

Police shouldn't be the prosecution, either.

    Not Yet.

Court blocks release of Making a Murderer subject Brendan Dassey.

Brendan Dassey remains behind bars three months after his conviction for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach was overturned.

A prisoner whose case was the subject of TV series Making a Murderer must remain behind bars even though his conviction has been quashed, it has been ruled.

Brendan Dassey was sentenced to life in 2007 after being convicted of raping and killing photographer Teresa Halbach.

In August, the 27-year-old's conviction was overturned and a judge later ordered his release by 8pm on Friday.

However, the Court of Appeals in Chicago has agreed to block Mr Dassey's release, pending the resolution of an appeal by Wisconsin state prosecutors.

They argue that Mr Dassey voluntarily confessed to the murder of Ms Halbach and poses a danger to society.

    Bigger News.

Judge orders independent re-tests of Making a Murderer evidence

Evidence to be tested includes a vial of blood crucial to the case, which the defence says was fabricated to match other samples.

A judge has ordered new independent tests of critical evidence in Steven Avery's Making a Murderer case.

Avery's lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, said an agreement had been signed by Wisconsin judge Angela Sutkiewicz to start independent scientific tests on several pieces of evidence.

It comes three months after Ms Zellner pledged to overturn Avery's 2007 conviction.

This is for the main character Steven Avery, not the mentally challenged 16 year old (at the time of his interrogation.) Brendan Dassey.

That would be why it refers to Steven Avery's case and has pictures of Steven Avery then.

    Well spotted.
