EU's first far-right head of state since WW2

Austria's far-right Freedom Party presidential candidate Norbert Hofer and his rival, Green-backed Alexander Van der Bellen, are holding final rallies ahead of a run-off vote.
Mr Hofer, 45, won last month's first round but failed to avoid the run-off.

If he wins on Sunday, Mr Hofer could become the EU's first far-right head of state, although Austria's president plays a largely ceremonial role.
On Thursday, the two rivals traded accusations during a TV debate.
Mr Van der Bellen, 72, accused Mr Hofer of wanting to dismiss any government that did not suit him.
He was referring to the fact that, despite limited powers, the president can sack governments and also swears in chancellors.

Dumb сunts don't understand that the EU didn't exist during WW2.

Hofer is a centrist, and only called far right by extreme left bedwetters.

Point of fact, fascism and authoriarianism are left-wing concepts - they spring from statism - the notion that the people are all the property of the state, and the state knows best what opinions they should have - organisations like the EU, the BBC, and other elements of left-wing establishment and far left press are crypto-fascists, busily attempting to dehumanise anyone who strives for freedom and sovereignty and accountability - the left are always playing the man and never the ball with their constant propaganda, smearing, and hysterical name-calling, they are revolting cowards.

The BBC is absoutely out of control with its frantic propaganda machine, but it'll be fun watching how they deal with Austria winning Euro 2016: (40/1 is good value).

Osterreich zeigt Rueckgart in politics too - good on them for standing up for what they believe in - France and Denmark are next to rise up and throw off the shackles of the EU... Frexit, Drexit, and eventually Germany will be forced to turn off life support.

Since WW2? I think you mean since Thatcher got the long-knives treatment from her own cabinet.

People have their voice, through the democratic vote. What is driving European voters further right is EU policy. Deal with it, policymakers.

    And he lost.

Odd thread title when the content is about a vote yet to be held.

    I know, isn't it hilarious.

Well, if you happen to be a slavering, myopic 'one issue' nutjob who thinks refugees are all Muslims.

Florian Klenk, a leading Austrian commentator and editor of the weekly magazine Falter, said he could understand why the international media in particular had focused on Hofer’s stellar rise on an anti-immigrant ticket. “He has a sect-like following and a way of communicating that is quite disturbing. Then there’s his desire to win back South Tyrol, his Islamophobia,” he said.

“But I’m interested to know, will there be as much focus and astonishment now that Van der Bellen, a candidate who is in favour of keeping Austria’s borders open, has won? I think probably not.”
Will this thread now become a 'thousand poster'?

    I think probably not.
