sounds like a nice bloke...The children were already in Beirut in the care of their Lebanese-born father, Ali el-Amien. He had taken them to his home country in May last year for a holiday and never returned.
if she had been born with some healthy racist genes she wouldn't be banged up abroad now

'I would have been shot, called a terrorist': Father of children involved in botched child abduction speaks out
The father of the two children involved in the botched child abduction in Lebanon has spoken out about the incident saying that if the tables were turned, he would be "shot" and called a "terrorist."
Tara Brown, her 60 Minutes crew and Brisbane mother, Sally Faulkner, are currently being held in Lebanese jails after they were accused of attempting to abduct two children from a Beirut street on April 7.
Faulkner, and her estranged husband, Ali Elamine, have failed to come to an agreement over custody of their children and he has recently spoken out about the incident.

^ True statement imagine the australian publics reaction if it happened here.
But easier to deny white privilege if we reframe it that way.Originally Posted by AntRobertson
60 Minutes crew on tenterhooks to see how dad Ali Elamine will wield his power
HE’S the American-Lebanese father who holds the power in the 60 Minutes case — so what exactly is Ali Elamine going to do?
The 32-year-old surfer has made it clear he is reluctant to be lenient towards jailed wife Sally Faulkner, because “if Sally goes out on bail, they all get out”.
His estranged spouse remains behind bars at Baabda prison along with the TV crew and child recovery agents who allegedly helped her with the botched abduction of her kids, Noah and Lahela.
Mr Elamine, originally from Huntington, California, told reporters at the court: “I will charge everyone involved. They are pushing for Sal’s release and everyone else gets a green card. (Nine) dropped the ball by getting involved in family matters (and now) everyone is blaming the other for what happened.”
The bail hearing has been adjourned until Wednesday so lawyers for the different parties can negotiate, but relations have reportedly broken down to the point that they were communicating through intermediaries.
Channel Nine is hoping to reach a deal to secure the release of presenter Tara Brown, producer Stephen Rice, cameraman Ben Williamson and sound recordist David Ballment.
But throwing money at Mr Elamine’s wealthy family may not be enough, with the father of two likely to demand at least a public apology for the attempted abduction, during which his mother was allegedly hit on the head with a gun.

Good, that's the first step.
Tara Brown, 60 Minutes: Ali Elamine knew it all thanks to Beirut network
60 Minutes dad knew crew’s every move thanks to secret Beirut network
FATHER Ali Elamine was one step ahead of the would-be abductors at every stage of the operation thanks to a secret network across Beirut.
From the moment Tara Brown, her crew and his estranged wife Sally Faulkner stepped off the plane, it’s believed he knew their movements.
He had been reading his spouse’s emails about the planned abduction on her iPad, and had cut off communication to prevent her from tracking him and the children.
When the desperate Brisbane mother arrived in Lebanon, surf school owner Mr Elamine was ready.
The Lebanese-American was rapidly tipped off about her arrival by associates, according to Fairfax Media. In the two days leading up to the botched abduction, a suspicious car was spotted trailing three-year-old Noah and five-year-old Lahela on their way to school.
When Ms Faulkner’s hired recovery agents grabbed the kids off the street on April 7 in the Hadath district — a Hezbollah stronghold — Mr Elamine was inundated with phone calls from the tight-knit southern Beirut Shiite community.
^What a total balls up by Channel 9.
What a stuff up,the mother and the abduction crew were in a Hezbollah stronghold,
and Hezbollah control the Beirut airport.
Another dumb OZ woman having kids with a Leb,too stupid to work out when things go pear shaped in the relationship that she has no rights out of OZ.
Well, they are out now.
I think they are very lucky to have gotten off so lightly.
Freedom at a cost: Nine 'paid millions' to secure Tara Brown and crew's freedom after 'child recovery' operation
I don't know how close to the mark the headline is,but it would have cost plenty.
Which step is giving a fuck, because I fail that step.
But in fact how would one be expected to alter their behavior in the face of white privelege in any meaningful way?
So you acknowledge that it's only SOME people. And it's based on skin colour. So you do not deny the existence of white privilege then, you acknowledge that some people receive different advantages in life on the basis of their skin colour ?
Are you aware that SOME black people get into colleges base on their skin colour ?(affirmative action).
Apparently BLACK privelege is a thing as well.
It's damn hard for one parent to take their own child out of some Western countries, even when the marriage is intact you can be required to show consent from the other parent. Many vacations have been ruined at the airport because of this shit.

Took my daughter (whom I had sole custody of) to Britain and France when she was 13. The ex would not sign the form that even pre-TSA airport security required, so I had to petition the Family Law Court having jurisdiction over my divorce and get a judges signature.
What made it even more silly is that was when you could still drive from the USA into Mexico without even stopping.

Not quite. It's called affirmative action because it's specifically meant to address the inherent imbalance.Originally Posted by Cujo
And it actually gives an example of white privilege as well.
After graduating college white privilege means that no one will question why you got that really great job, it’s just assumed that you were qualified.
'White privilege means not having to worry about your hair, skin color, or cultural accessories as the reason you didn't get a job.'
I wouldn't quite say that it's 'damn hard' but I struck that here too when taking my kids back home alone. Had to show some paperwork or other.Originally Posted by BobR

You don't have to agree with it, don't have to do anything about it, but white privilege exists whether you like it or not.
