Taliban Suicide Bomber Kills Dozens In Pakistan

A suicide bomber linked to the Taliban has killed at least 65 people and wounded more than 200 others outside a park in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore.

The explosion took place in the parking area of Gulshan Iqbal Park, just a few feet away from some children's swings.

The area was crowded at the time because Christians were gathering to celebrate the Easter holiday.

The Taliban faction Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has claimed responsibility, saying it was targeting Pakistan's Christian minority.

"The target were Christians," said a spokesman for the group, Ehsanullah Ehsan.

"We want to send this message to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that we have entered Lahore.

"He can do what he wants but he won't be able to stop us. Our suicide bombers will continue these attacks."

Many families were leaving the park when the blast occurred.

Muhammad Usman, an administration official in Lahore, said the death toll had reached 65 people.

"The rescue operation is continuing," he said, adding that more than 50 children were among the injured.

Eyewitnesses said they saw body parts strewn across the parking lot in the wake of the attack.

Television footage shows children and women crying as rescue officials, police and bystanders carry the injured to ambulances.

Javed Ali, a 35-year-old resident who lives opposite park, said the force of the blast shattered his home's windows.

"Everything was shaking - there were cries and dust everywhere," he said.

"After 10 minutes I went outside. There was human flesh on the walls of our house. People were crying, I could hear ambulances."

He added: "It was overcrowded because of Easter - there were a lot of Christians there. It was so crowded I told my family not to go."

The death toll is expected to rise as many of those injured are in a critical condition.

Superintendent Mustansar Feroz said most of the dead are women and children.

Lahore is the capital of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's political heartland of Punjab, the biggest and wealthiest province in Pakistan.

The country is currently battling a Taliban insurgency, criminal gangs and sectarian violence.

In 2014, Pakistan launched an offensive against Taliban and affiliated jihadist fighters in North Waziristan, seeking to deprive them of safe havens from which to attack both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Sunday's blast came as the army was also deployed on the streets of Islamabad after thousands of protesters clashed with police in chaotic scenes, throwing stones and setting a container on fire.

The demonstrators were supporters of Islamist assassin Mumtaz Qadri, who was hanged on 29 February for killing a Punjab governor over his call for blasphemy reform.

The explosion also follows a bus bombing in Peshawar on 16 March in which 15 people died and another 40 were wounded.

The blast was set off by an improvised explosive device planted under a seat of the vehicle.

The bus was transporting government employees from nearby towns to provincial offices in Peshawar.

At least 60 dead in Lahore Easter blast

At least 69 people have been killed and scores injured in an explosion at a public park in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore, officials say.

The park was crowded with families, some celebrating Easter. Many victims are said to be women and children.

Police told the BBC it appeared to be a suicide bomb. A Pakistan Taliban faction said it carried out the attack.

Pakistan's president has condemned the blast and the regional government has announced three days of mourning.

All the major hospitals in the area were put on an emergency footing after the blast early on Sunday evening.

The explosion appears to have been at the main gate to the Gulshan-e-Iqbal park in an area where cars are usually left - and a short distance from the children's swings.

One eyewitness said there was chaos, with a stampede starting and children separated from their parents in the rush to escape.

You REALLY, REALLY have to be a true believer to go to a public, outdoor Christian Easter prayer service in Pakistan.

    Or REALLY, REALLY stupid.

This is the the third but largest suicide bombing in Lahore since a bodyguard was sentenced to be executed for killing a provincial governor over 'blasphemy'.

Remember the recent thread about a bodyguard shooting his 'boss' 28 times ?

Obviously there are Pakistanis from a religion of peace and love that holy (wholly)disagreed with executing the bodyguard .

Davis, maybe you have not read the news about a demonstration (Brussels) that had to be called off because of fears that sometining like this might happen.

Has anyone noticed how the dead children that have been killed by the dozens are not being noticed/photo.
A (fake) muslim kid holding up a sign "Sorry for Brussels" gets more attention then christian children playing on a playground and getting killed by fragmentation bombs.

65 people, including women and children, enjoying Easter holiday at a popular park, were on Sunday killed and more than 200 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, the capital of Punjab province. The attack was targeted at Christians and was claimed by a Taliban faction that once declared ties with Islamic State.

    .
    Spot-on, HtG.

This is what I've been thinking about.

It's constantly discussed, debated, reported, etc.

The fact that two non-muslim westerners would even debate islamic immigration shows weaknesses and myopia of the west.

More good news from muslim immigrants.

SCANDAL: Nearly 50% of Muslim migrants are on welfare according to report by Congress

    4 days ago Connor Balough

According to a breaking congressional report, nearly half of the refugees from Syria, Libya, and Iraq are on welfare, food stamps, and other forms of government assistance.

This is in the wake of the Brussels Belgium terror alert.

Middle Eastern and African refugees in the United States are much more likely than refugees from anywhere else in the world to be on welfare, a government report from the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)—provided to Congress and obtained by Breitbart News ahead of its public release—shows.

When it comes to cash assistance programs, a whopping 39.2 percent of refugees from the Middle East receive TANF—Temporary Assistance for Needy Families—cash benefits. A similarly high percentage of refugees from Africa—18.9 percent—are on TANF benefits, the chart on page 107 of the 112 page report shows.
( See below.) The data is based on Fiscal Year 2014 and was provided to Congress by ORR.
Those two regions—Africa and the Middle East—according to a breakdown in the previous year’s report, are mostly made up of predominantly Muslim countries. The countries that comprise the Middle East are all predominantly Muslim nations: Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen.

African nations are listed as: Benin, Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, Malta, Rwanda, South Africa, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Of those, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Somalia, and Sudan are predominantly Muslim nations, while most of the rest of the African nations here have sizable Muslim populations, according to the Pew Research Center.

According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), TANF is basically a program through which the federal government—using state governments, through block granting—puts cash right in the pockets of its beneficiaries.

Twitter taken by storm about Eiffel Tower illuminates or not in Pakistani Flag

The social media site, twitter is abuzz with the debate whether Eiffel Tower is lit up in the colors of Pakistani flag in the wake of Pakistani flag just as it did after the Brussels bombings.

In the face of the recent display of desolation and destruction in heart of Pakistan, Lahore a new debate has started on social media. People have started looking for the colors of Pakistani flag on Eiffel Tower as the Belgian flag appeared on it after the Brussels bombings to show solidarity with the victims.

There are speculations that Eiffel Tower did show the colors of Pakistan’s flag and the pictures displaying Eiffel Tower in green and yellow color are uploaded as a proof. But there is a loophole in this story as Pakistan’s flag colors are green and white, not green and yellow. Furthermore, the picture actually dates back to 2007, when Eiffel Tower actually was lit in South African colors.

It is pertinent to mention that people are also criticizing another social media site, Facebook for its partiality and bias. They are doing this on the premise that Facebook did not roll out the safety check feature properly in the wake of Lahore blast, neither did it give the feature to display Pakistani flag just as it did for French flag in the face of Paris attacks.
