Horror as mum is charged with child cruelty 'after putting daughter, 2, in a hot oven' causing third degree burns
A TEXAN mother has been charged on suspicion of putting her two-year-old daughter in a hot oven, causing horrific burns.
Somervell County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to a property late last Thursday following reports a child had been severely burned.
Upon arriving at the scene, witnesses told deputies that Tasha Shontell Hatcher, 35, said she'd put her child in the oven.
The unnamed toddler is currently sedated in hospital in a stable condition after suffering third degree burns.
Texas Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales says the little has been taken into their custody and will be placed in foster care when released from the hospital.
Hatcher has been charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury and arraigned Saturday.
Bond has been set at $300,000 and it isn't immediately known whether Hatcher has a lawyer.
According to her Facebook page, the single mother currently works at Quality Inn and Suites and StoneWater Church in Glen Rose, Texas.
