Raped Teen Dies After Being Set On Fire

A 16-year-old girl who was raped and set on fire on the roof of her home in an Indian village earlier this week has died.

The teenager died in hospital in the capital New Delhi, where she was being treated for severe burns over 95% of her body sustained in Monday's attack.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with several offences, including rape, murder, assault of a minor and causing grievous injury.

Constable Yadram Singh, of the Bisrakh police station, said the man had burns on his hands.

The police report describes how the girl's parents found her after hearing her screaming from their rooftop terrace before dawn.

The suspect lived near the girl in Tigri village in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

The girl's family told local media that he had been stalking and harassing her for around a year despite several warnings.

The attack is the latest in a string of horrific sexual crimes in India.

Mumbai police on Monday reportedly said they were looking into a case where the body of a four-year-old girl was found. There were allegations she had been raped before she was killed.

Last week, three boys reportedly kidnapped and raped a teenage girl around New Delhi, but she managed to escape.

The fatal gang rape of a young woman travelling on a bus in New Delhi in 2012 led to a public outcry about the high levels of violence against women in India.

It also led to reform of rape laws in the country, including speeding up of trials and increased penalties for offenders.

But high numbers of assault still persist despite the stronger laws.

India appears to be one big horror story. Is there anything good in that place or any good that comes out of it?

I would have visited to see it myself just because we're so close, but Americans need a visa and I refuse to get one to go to a shithole.

Toddler (3) only witness to mother's brutal gang rape and murder of infant brother

A three-year-old girl was present as her mother was brutally gang-raped and her two-week-old brother killed, in a case that Indian police are describing as even more “ghastlier” then the infamous 2012 killing of Jyoti Singh.

The child is said to have hidden after her 28-year-old mother was set upon by a bus driver and a conductor while she was travelling on a bus in India’s northern province of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Times of India, the young girl gave police a “harrowing description” of the ordeal after she escaped unseen when her mother’s attackers stopped to dump the woman and her murdered infant son by the roadside.

The little girl was later found beside her unconscious mother by her father and other villagers, who had gone in search of the family after they failed to return when planned.

Two men have since been charged in connection with the attack, said police.

A spokesperson confirmed to the Times of India that they had recovered the body of a 14-day-old baby boy.

Superintendent of Police, Yamuna Prasad, said the woman, from Rampur, had travelled to Shishgarh to visit her sister because her child had been sick.

He said: “Her child had been sick for sometime and she went to visit her sister to meet a tantrik [a healer].

“She was returning to Rampur when she met the two accused at the bus station."

Prasad continued: “The alleged rape took place when fellow passengers had left the bus.”

The attack is just one of several recently reported cases of rape against women or children in India.

Two young girls - a toddler and a five-year-old - have been raped in separate attacks in New Delhi, police said, in the latest incidents of sexual violence against girls and women in India.

A two-and-a-half-year-old girl who was playing outside her home was raped in a west Delhi suburb on Friday evening, said Delhi police deputy superintendent Pushpendra Kumar.

Family members found the child lying unconscious and bleeding in a park three hours after she went missing during a power outage in the neighbourhood.

Police have detained a few men but have not yet made any arrests over the incident, Kumar said.

Meanwhile, police said they were questioning three men arrested over the gang-rape of the five-year-old on Friday evening in east Delhi.

Both girls are in a stable condition in hospital, police said.

The rapes occurred a week after a four-year-old girl was found dumped near a railway track after being raped and slashed with a blade.

A series of recent attacks has renewed public fury and horror over India's inability to halt chronic violence against women and girls.

All-male village council sentences sisters 'to be raped' in Indian state
    Shahla Khan in Delhi
    PUBLISHED
    04/09/2015 | 02:3

Local unelected authorities, also known as the Khap Panchayat, reportedly ordered the sexual assault of the sisters from the low Dalit caste (historically called 'untouchables') as a punishment for their elder brother marrying a woman from the upper Jat caste.

One of the sisters, Meenakshi Kumari (23) said her brother fell in love with the woman back in their home village of Bhagpat, and the couple eloped to Delhi in March.

The woman's family were furious and began to make unannounced midnight visits to their house to harass his sisters.

Meenakshi said they told the family: "You've spoilt our honour by marrying our daughter, so now we will ruin your honour by raping your daughters".

The all-male village council in Uttar Pradesh state, 30 miles from the capital Delhi, then ruled that the Dalit family should be dishonoured to "avenge" their brother's supposed crime.

Meenakshi and her sister were told they would be paraded naked with their faces blackened through the streets. The family contacted the police and officials for help, but were rejected.

It meant they were forced to abandon their home and flee to another part of India. They're still there, in hiding. And though village elders have reportedly now denied the order for them to be raped in revenge (while others have questioned the authenticity of the story) the sisters have petitioned the country's Supreme Court to be protected.

The news has shocked the western world, but in rural parts of India, cases like this are common and have been for centuries.

We're only hearing about them now because the international media has created a 'rape debate', following the horrific 2012 gang rape and murder of Nirbhaya, a medical student in New Delhi.

That tragedy prompted widespread protests for improved women's rights, and brought violence against women into the spotlight.

But behind closed doors, things have got worse for women in India. Parents who allowed girls some level of freedom have now become fearful and strict, under the guise of protecting their daughters.

While rape debates may have gone mainstream in the media, the general population largely holds women responsible for 'inviting' such crimes.

Poor rural women may speak about their ordeals, but in middle and upper classes, family honour routinely silences victims.

In India, expressing love is still a major taboo - no matter what they show in Bollywood films. It's even worse if the one you love differs in caste and income. If they differ in religion, lives are in danger.

Rooted in culture, supported by religion, protected by misogynist government, Mid eastern and South Asian rapists and fascists abound.

The most sexually bizarre and most xenophobic country I've ever visited is India.

Either Muslim madmen, Hindu mad men or just animists gone completely cuckoo, would describe the source of most of India's emotionally driven, destructive social structure.

Not a safe place for lone women or men.

The contorted moral logic in their reasoning is head-scratchingly weird. Much of the 3rd world really does live in the moral dark ages.

The pommy legacy gave them good schools etc. they did not teach them to rape and kill young girls. That they did and do themselves.

What about your Australia - did the poms do bad by you? Don't think so. Because perhaps in your oh so wonderful blood cells there is a bit of pom. Which taught you right from wrong.

When I have fuked up in my life I blame it all on those nasty Poms.

They sent their shit to Australia and that's why us Australians are a Tad feral.

    Good fun though.
