Research into how humans would cope with climate change or colonising other planets suggests we could develop webbed hands and feet

Future evolution of manAll change: How men could evolve in different scenarios
Future humans could evolve to look like Orangutans or even live underwater, scientists claim.

Ground-breaking research into how humans would cope with climate change or colonising other planets has revealed we could develop webbed hands and feet in a 'Water World' - or bulk up massively during a second ice age.

The bizarre predictions were made by acclaimed paleoanthropologist Dr Matthew Skinner, from the School of Anthropology and Conservation at University of Kent.

He tried to predict how the human body would naturally evolve to survive different future habitat scenarios.

While his work may seem unusual, humans are constantly evolving and many people still have reminders of our primitive past.

Changing shape: How women may evolve
American singer Kesha was infamously born with a one-inch tail but medics removed it.

Other celebs like Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg and singer Lilly Allen were even born with a third nipple.

Dr Skinner based his predictions on three scenarios - the earth becoming flooded, a second ice age and humans colonising other planets.

He claims if sea levels rise, humans could develop webbed hands and feet, more fat and eyes like those of cats to help us see in the murky depths of the ocean.

During an ice age, he says we would develop larger heads and noses to deal with low temperatures and would become physically more powerful, particularly males, as the fight for resources increased.

Quite the speculative evolutionary leap or digression.

Subscribing to such theories might leave one exhausted by social sciences that certainly struggle to get our past in some coherent ties, less imagining up something that has yet come about [a future].
