Australia is a fairly safe bet for retirement but the cost of living is deplorable without factoring in the huge cost doing good shit in ones retirement.

A silly Nanny state as well with way to many stupid rules.

So many of the old plebs just hang around doing nothing much at all, that's not retirement is it ?

So for me It's Thailand.

I know that's not allowed in the OP's question but it's better than reading Jacky and Chas arguing.

I will agree with that terry,i've been back 6 months and everywhere you look there is another rule put in place.
And every time i open my wallet a $100 note flies out.
Saying that i can afford to live back here and still keep my place in thailand and go back a couple of months a year.
I like the saneness of Brissy and the weather and the girl loves it.

Yep,

I go back Twice a year, I do not pay for Accommodation, $ 100 gets me out the door.

Just the way it is. I never even think about money when I go back, I just spend what is needed and do what I want.

If I was concerned about money I would never go back.

I'm not back long before I'm on the plane out again though.

4 weeks seems to cover it, see friends, sort my business, do a road trip and fok right off again.

Actually, the place just feels so fokin sterile and dead compared to Asia.

Dreading the thought of returning full time, will only go back if health reasons demand it though.

I do understand why punters go back for family reasons though, only place to raise kids for sure.
