Pigs Heads Found Outside Muslim School In Lancashire

Students at a Muslim school in the United Kingdom are still trying to make sense of a bizarre scene that unfolded late last week: the discovery of two severed pigs’ heads — a direct insult to Islamic dietary restrictions — near school grounds on Saturday. Police are now investigating the incident as a hate crime.

The pigs’ heads were found outside of Markazul Uloom Islamic school, which is located in Lancashire, about four hours north of London. “An investigation is underway to identify those responsible and a team of detectives are carrying out numerous inquiries. We have carried out house-to-house inquiries in the area and done a search through CCTV, and we would appeal for anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation to get in touch with us," Chief Inspector Sheena Tattum told reporters, according to Mashable.

The school’s 150 students range in age from 11 to 19. Similar incidents have recently taken place in Philadelphia and Australia.

Anti-Muslim hate crimes have been on the rise in the United States since 9/11, but have been especially notable in the weeks since the Paris and San Bernardino attacks. In an address earlier this month, President Barack Obama warned against such violence and hate. "We cannot turn against one another by letting this fight be defined as a war between America and Islam” the president said. “That, too, is what groups like ISIL want.”

islam is a hard faith for outsiders to like and respect, and its inward looking nature and disdain for outsiders just encourages disrespect and cynicism.

had it been islam expressing its dislike for disbelievers it may well have been knives, bullets and bombs, they tend not to mess about, thankfully this was only pigs heads and nobody had anything hurt other than their feelings.

The reason behind police investigating incidents like this is to prevent more serious incidents in future. Surely that hardly needs pointing out. The people who do this kind of thing are the kind of people who are likely to escalate their actions to property damage, arson, or assault. It is only a silly incident until something similar happens to you. Would you be so sanguine if someone were to leave parts of dead animals on your doorstep, especially if you knew the intent was to intimidate your children?

Rather offensive that children are segregated by religion for their education. Segregation is something that advanced cultures routinely prohibit and yet we allow it for our youngest members during their formative years.

Can there be any better way to indoctrinate children in cultural xenophobia than to keep them separated by tribe during their childhood.

Children should learn that they are all humans first and any mumbo-jumbo can be pursued by the so inclined once they are old enough to make an informed decision.

In the UK crimes are investigated by Detectives from CID. Each police station generally has a team of detectives. That's all it means. You could have worked that out for yourself.

True, the pig's head is the main topic, but religious segregation is within the bounds of reasonably relevant discourse given the context of the unpleasant incident and strategies for long term race hate mitigation.

I agree that the idiots shouldn't be directing hate towards kids, as they hardly have a choice in the matter, then it got me thinking that pretty well goes for a majority of the Muslims if you are bought up in a Muslim family,community, country it's not like you have a choice not to be with out suffering exile,violence, death.
