Plans are afoot to change
A skyscraper with the highest bar in Europe and a 14th-floor suspended glass-bottomed swimming pool could be built in Croydon.
A Chinese construction firm has signed a £500 million deal to build the tower, called One Lansdowne Road, which will offer panoramic views of the south of England.
Two tower blocks, rising to 51 and 65 storeys, are linked at the 14th floor by a 25m glass-bottomed swimming pool. The bar on the roof will be the highest in Europe.
Developers Guildhouse UK and Rosepride won planning permission in 2012 for a 55-storey town-centre skyscraper containing offices, flats and a hotel, but have since redrafted the proposals to include more housing and some eye-catching design features.
Fortunately none of this will despoil the Waddon Riviera with its view of the twin towers tram depot and sewage works
