No, but the guy who appeared in the first photo (posted above) when I googled Richard Colvin Reid looks middle-eastern to me and I would hazard to most people. I am guessing this is a look he has cultivated. Maybe not.

I have only suggested, in response to the initial reaction on the thread, that racial profiling may have a place in anti-terrorist security measures. I have conceded that it can be taken as offensive and that as such there is a tangible cost to the dignity of society and that we should therefore try to minimise its use, possibly to periods of high alert.

^The other similar idea, that they might have been speaking Arabic as a deliberate wind-up, occurred to me too. I am sure these guys are aware of the sensitive association between ME ethnicity and aircraft terrorism in the US. Particularly talking in a ME language which catches other passenger's ears but which none of them can understand. If they are US citizens I am sure they can speak English. If it was a wind-up I hope any lawsuit falls on its ass.

I've been in many airports in America and Canada, and I've heard lot's of people speaking Arabic. We are nations of immigrants, as is Australia (come to think of it, I heard people speaking Arabic in Sydney airport as well). It doesn't alarm me.

They should sue.
