Etihad rerouting to avoid Russian missiles?

I see on flightradar24.com that Etihad and Air Berlin (+ other airliines?) last night diverted their AUH to Europe flights from their normal west Iran route to fly via Saudi Arabia/Med......more fuel and delayed arrivals.
Presumably because of the Russian missiles being fired from the Caspian Sea.

I would think thats gonna be standard fare for any airline travelling on that route .

What worries me more is if one of those missiles being fired over from the Caspian sea drops short in Iran or Iraq en-route

Or if a clever hacker reroutes one of those missiles to Moscow or, if that's too far, Sevastopol!
    Impossible?

If you owned a commercial airliner would you want to put it anywhere near Russians with missiles, with their track record?

Think they used cruise missile if so flight altitude is between 10 and 15 meters.

You never stop learning. Today's lesson; there are only bungalows and no high trees between the Caspian Sea and Syria.

Not flying Etihad if that's their cruising altitude.

Fly high subsonic, low-altitude terrain following flight profile.

Land attack missiles generally follow a terrain hugging profile. This means that they closely follow the ups and downs of the terrain and remain hidden from detection by radars due to their low altitude.

Thank KT for the interesting link. It doesn't mention the actual flying height or if the ups and downs of the terrain the missiles follow includes buildings, trees.......or giraffes!

I hope I am wrong , but I have an idea , not from an official source , BUT the word is 4 of these cruise missiles have just landed in Iran .

If it is true lets hope they have landed in some out back area with the minimum of population .

Another worry here is with different Countries running different campaigns of bombing seemingly without any form of united co-ordination between the Countries there has to be a very high chance I would think an unimaginable accident is gonna occur .

I am suprised the seriousness of this situation is not being reported on more

Unfortunately the RAF turned me down; too old and when told to read the screen I had to ask "what screen?"
Hopefully Wing Commander ES can tell us tossers if Putin, if it's of any concern to him, can ensure the safety of civil aircraft.

This story, manufactured by the US, is now being reported widely.

Russia has partnered with Assad and as such has on the ground intel of where to hit. The Axis of Evil seem to rely on a criminal in coventry living in a bungalow sponsored by the EU and UK for their intel. Maybe this is why the US is blowing up hospitals and Russia is wiping out the West's ISIS fighters?

Yeah I know what your getting at , but there is a bit more to that story about the hospital under the surface , I think you will find the Afghans had requested that bombing due to the usual thing of having prime suspects hiding in there . Ok the Americans should have checked this out if its possible before obliterating the place , dunno it sure is getting messy

pseudolus seems obsessed by this guy living in a bungalow. I take it that he lives in a penthouse or multi storey home and looks down his nose at us humble bungalow dwellers. Beyond that, living in coventry...can't honour that hellhole with a capital C.....puts one beneath pseudolus' contempt.

I nominate nigelandjan's "Dunno it sure is getting messy" for the Understatement of the Year Award.

I think it's quite funny that they bombed Iran. Of course Iran won't say a dickie bird. Probably already bulldozed over the bomb sites.

Iran has already said no Russian missiles landed in Iran, with Iranian media adding that it is just "psychological operations by the US against Moscow".

The truth? Who knows. Perhaps the "unnamed US official" who broke the story will provide some evidence - or even provide his name and position.

Probably too late, as the U.S. more than likely has pics from the eyes in the sky...
