    Yay Harry.

Interesting phenominon. The media are tarting around the shooters Myspace page and a dating website page. When you jack it into the way back when machine, of all the pages on myspace, and the dating site, these seem to be the only 2 that only have one entry... being the day of the shooting. Funny that.

Anyway, I wonder what big pharma psych drugs this lad was on?

Fox are desperately trying to paint him as a muslim, it's hilarious.

But his dad seemed to me to be a Brit?

I'm just gonna let you run with this pseudopuss......

Mercer was among five students listed in the 2009 graduating class at Switzer Learning Center, according to a special graduation section published by the Torrance-based newspaper, The Daily Breeze.

The Switzer Learning Center, also in Torrance, teaches students with special needs, emotional disturbances, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, and other health issues. According to its website, the school “has a long history of working with children who have been unsuccessful in traditional classrooms because they need the special attention and encouragement that only a school like Switzer can provide.”

If he felt the need to kill people without consciousness or judgment, he might've done better by joining [any] a police force or the military, where their murderous activities are perfectly justified by the American social order.

    Civilised lot.

    No.

    About 4-5%.

Although I can't be precise, they breed too quickly.

Exactly. 10-20 gun deaths a day "don't count", are accepted as normal. Only when the same number are shot together does it become a "mass murder", hits the headlines and increases the small number of decent Americans...like Obama...who challenge the insane gun laws which enable any lunatic or criminal to kill with ease.

Updated | There was the one of two journalists on live TV in Moneta, Virginia; the one inside a church in Charleston, South Carolina; the few at Naval Reserve facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee; the one inside a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana; and others.

And now the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. It's the 45th school shooting in the United States in the 274 days so far in 2015, a spokesperson for Everytown for Gun Safety tells Newsweek.

On Thursday morning, a gunman opened fire on the college campus. The shooter might have killed 10 people, and wounded at least 20 others at the school, attended by about 3,300 full-time and 16,000 part-time students. The shooter has been killed, but not identified, according to Sergeant Aaron Dunbar.
    snip
Another project, Mass Shooting Tracker, has a broad definition of mass shootings. While the FBI measures a "mass shooting" as an incident when people are killed, the tracker classifies a mass shooting as an event when four or more people are shot. Using that criteria, the tracker reports that 294 known mass shootings have occurred this year.

I know it's cliche at this point to say that they need to solve this problem with better mental healthcare not gun grabbing, but this dude listed "romantic comedies" in the movies section of his dating site profile.

If that's not a red flag, I don't know what is.

Lots of guns around when I was a kid but no shootings. Some scientist needs to look at what might be going on. Anti-depressant drugs are in wide use everywhere in the USA and there are loads of linkages between their use (or withdrawal) to violent acts that come totally unexpected.

    That's a very good question.
About 5 years ago I listened to a presentation from an expert on the subject of mass shootings (don't remember if he was retired ATF of FBI) that he gave a college where my wife is an instructor. He said that some of these shooters make it a goal to beat the body count of the last shooter they saw on the news. Naturally automatic weaponry that wasn't so prevelant then make nice tools for them since they kill more people.
And then there's so much hate floating around in the air here these days, much of it fomented by our so-called political leaders.
But then anger has always been around. For that reason I am tempted to social media and mass communication as the reason for the historical increase. Before, hate groups were organized (KKK and others) haters had a place to take it. Now it's lone wolf losers who have no place to go but out in a blaze of "glory".
Not much of an answer, just IMHO

Authorities: Oregon Gunman Had at Least 13 Weapons

Federal investigators have recovered a total of 13 weapons possessed by the lone gunman who went on a shooting rampage at a community college in rural southern Oregon, including six firearms recovered at the school and seven at the gunman's apartment.

"All the guns were purchased legally and traced to the same firearms dealer," Celinez Nunez of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Friday. She said at a news conference that some of the weapons were were purchased by the shooter, while others were not.

The weapons recovered at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, included five pistols and a rifle.

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin told reporters at the same Friday news-conference that teams of investigators are working with each of the victims' families individually to give them personal attention.

Earlier, Hanlin said investigators were at the college and the shooter's nearby apartment throughout the night and during the morning hours.

Officials identified the gunman as 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer and said he opened fire at the college Thursday, killing nine people and wounding nine others before dying during an exchange of gunfire with officers.

Hospital officials said two of the wounded are in stable condition and one is being moved out of intensive care.

Law enforcement officials said Mercer had three weapons, at least one of which was a long gun, and that the others were believed to be handguns. Hanlin said investigators would release details on the number and types of weapons later Friday.

Police are also planning to investigate the shooter's blog posts to determine a motive.

Meanwhile, witnesses to the rampage said the shooter was targeting Christians. At least two witness accounts said the shooter asked his victims if they were Christian before he shot them.

At least two witness accounts say the shooter, who has not been named by law enforcement officials, asked his victims if they were Christian before he shot them.

Authorities believe the gunman was familiar with the college and the building. They also say he wrote on a social media website about what he was planning to do.

But investigators believe this was a case of domestic terrorism with no ties to any international group.

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin spoke to the media late Thursday, providing details of the shooting but asked reporters not to give the shooter undue publicity by using his name.

Hanlin said, "we think we know who the shooter is," but added, "I will not give him the credit he probably sought prior to this horrific and cowardly act." He encouraged members of the media to avoid using, repeating, or sensationalizing the shooter's name once it is confirmed.

He was born in England before moving to the USA as a kid, heard his dad talk briefly and wasn't sure but he sounded Geordie. He was armed to the teeth with legally purchased guns and attacked a college campus of over 3000 students with only one unarmed security guard. As long as we have nutters like him around the schools need to have armed guards in proportion to the number of students/size of campus

Yeah, NRA logic: to solve the problem of gun deaths,.. more guns. (good profits in the gun business, perchance?)
More than 50 years ago Pete Seeger asked "When will they ever learn?". The proud answer of the NRA thickheads, "Never !".
