Allegedly the UK and French navies are putting a toe into the warm SCS.
France, Britain Sending Ships to Challenge Beijing’s Claims in South China Sea

"The French and British navies are planning to follow in the footsteps of the US Navy with their own wayfinding mission through the disputed South China Sea, specifically, into areas London and Paris argue are illegally claimed by Beijing.
A seaborne task force comprising French and British ships and naval aircraft will make its way through the South China Sea next week, French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parley said Sunday. The force will go "into certain areas" where the world's fastest growing navy — the People's Liberation Army-Navy — is expected to be present.
"At some point a stern voice intrudes into the transponder and tells us to sail away from supposedly ‘territorial waters.' But our commander then calmly replies the he will sail forth, because these, under international law, are indeed international waters," Parley said Sunday.
The South China Sea is notable for the trillions of dollars' worth of commercial cargo passing through the waterway every year and for the possibility it contains large untapped oil and gas fields. A slew of nations in the region have overlapping claims on islets and sections of water, including China, Taiwan, Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
France does not have any conflicting territorial claims in the waterway, said Parley, but it intends to contribute to a "rules-based" order in the South China Sea "on a regular basis with allies and friends," she noted, the South China Morning Post reported Monday.
"By exercising our freedom of navigation, we also place ourselves in the position of a persistent objector to the creation of any claim to de facto sovereignty on the islands," the armed forces minister noted, adding that she believes the French Navy "should broaden this effort even further."

One hopes they both have their "Begbie Signalling Lamps" at the ready, for when their Chinese electronics/Windows XP systems suddenly fail.
I'm sure their invisible friends supplying "top and bottom cover", will try to start WWIII as another false flag.
The surrendering French and perfidious British, upholding "International Law" and "rules based order".

Station broadcasts shipping forecasts to South China Sea
"China aired its first English language oceanic forecast in the South China Sea on Friday on Guangzhou Coast Radio Station with a coverage range of 926 kilometers (500 nautical miles).
The development means China is now able to release forecasts for the South China Sea in both Chinese and English, the China News Service reported.
Such a service signifies China's improved capability to implement international conventions, defend China's maritime rights and serve the international public in the sphere including rescue operations in the South China Sea, according to the report.
The broadcast effectively covers the country's Xisha, Zhongsha and Huangyan islands, providing all ships with precise safety information, safeguarding their navigation, life and property, the report added.
"By enhancing the country's public service capability in the South China Sea, China is sending the world a direct message of its firm stance in safeguarding its territorial sovereignty in the South China Sea," Li Kaisheng, a research fellow at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times on Friday.
China also displays its development of the region in the civilian dimension, Li said, adding that China even facilitates freedom of navigation by providing such a public service.
Starting Friday, the English version of the South China Sea maritime forecast would be broadcast at 9 am-9:10 am and 9 pm-9:10 pm Beijing time through the Navigational Telex (Navtex) or 4029.5 KHz, the report said.
The Navtex is an international automated system for distributing navigational warnings, weather forecasts and rescue notices to ships.
The forecast is generated by the South China Sea Prediction Center before it is forwarded to the Guangzhou Coast Radio Station in South China's Guangdong Province.
As one of the five Navtex radio stations in China, the Guangzhou Coast Radio Station broadcasts maritime safety information to waters including south of the Taiwan Straits and the South China Sea."

So that's what all those radar masts are for, collecting weather data.
I'm sure they stole the IP from NAA though.

China, ASEAN diplomats to meet on South China Sea
"China on Friday said the 15th Senior Officials' Meeting on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) will be convened on June 27 in Changsha in central China's Hunan Province.
According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou and senior diplomats from ASEAN countries will attend the meeting. Prior to the meeting, the 24th Joint Working Group meeting on the Implementation of the DOC will be held.
China and ASEAN countries will continue to discuss issues including implementation of the DOC, maritime pragmatic cooperation, and negotiation of the code of conduct in the South China Sea (COC), Geng said.
Thanks to the joint efforts of China and other countries in the region, the current situation in the South China Sea has been stabilized and maintains positive momentum, said the spokesperson.
All parties will continue their efforts in pushing forward dialogue and cooperation, strive for more outcomes and progress, so as to create favorable conditions for consolidating the current sound situation, Geng said.
The DOC, signed in 2002 by China and ASEAN countries, outlines the most important principles in the management of disputes on the South China Sea, and consultations for the COC were launched by the two sides in 2013. Both are aimed at safeguarding peace and stability in the region."

What a novel idea, diplomats meeting, discussing things and hopefully agreeing the route forward. I wonder if an unexceptional countries POTUSE will tweet it's considered opinion or does the 7th Fleet need to show it's muscles again?
If Maggie May has fixed the engines maybe a UK warship could be ordered by Goldilocks and make it's own start to island building, by running into a container ship and sinking.
South China Sea a Touchstone for the New Realities
"Containing” China has long been a US strategic imperative, but the role of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, a huge undertaking involving the Eurasian, African and South American continents has given a fresh impetus to American strategy in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The new commander of US forces in the Pacific, Admiral Davidson told his Senate confirmation hearing on 17th of April that his major task was to prepare his forces for war with China, and enlisting as many allies as possible (Australia being a prominent one) in the Pentagon’s campaign to encircle China. This “containment” already exists in the form of 400 US military bases located in proximity to China (China by contrast has two foreign military bases, one each in Pakistan and Djibouti). The US maintains what it calls a “continuous bomber presence” in the South China Sea. These nuclear-armed bombers are stated by the US to “demonstrate its global strike capacity.”The US (with Australian military and political support) also conducts what it calls “freedom of navigation” exercises with its warships in the South China Sea. These freedom of navigation operations are an illustration of the hypocrisy that characterizes so much of US and Australian statements on the South China Sea.
The US regularly asserts its “rights” to conduct such exercises because freedom of navigation is guaranteed under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). According to the Convention however, such navigation is exercised in accordance with the rules of international law. Those rules guaranteed the right of “peaceful passage”. Conducting military exercises in disputed territorial waters is not “passage”, peaceful or otherwise.
Furthermore, the US is not even a signatory to the Convention, unlike China that ratified the Convention in 1986. The US military exercises in the South China Sea have in fact nothing to do with freedom of navigation, but rather in practicing and demonstrating its “global strike capability.”The US is located approximately 12,000km from the South China Sea, and Hainan Island is nearly 7,500km from Canberra. The vast bulk of Chinese Maritime trade passes through the South China Sea (unlike the US or Australia) and if any nation has a strong vested interest in freedom of navigation in these waters it is China.
China’s attitude to the hostile intentions of the US and its allies is undoubtedly reinforced by operation Talisman Sabre, a joint US-Australian naval exercise that practices blockading the narrow (2.5km) Malacca Strait through which more than 80% of China’s oil imports pass.
In this context this is hardly surprising that China has fortified Woody Island in the Paracel Group that lies south east of Hainan and has been occupied solely by China since 1974. An airfield capable of landing military aircraft has been built, and anti aircraft missile batteries installed. It is likely that the Dong Feng 21D Cruise missile system has also been deployed. This anti-ship missile travels at Mach10 and is accurate to within 1 metre. No US ship in the South China Sea is invulnerable and the Dong Feng’s capabilities have rendered obsolete US military power projection that is dependent on the aircraft carrier and its attendant ships and fighter aircraft.
This Chinese activity is invariably portrayed in the west as evidence of Chinese “aggression” or “assertiveness.” It is certainly the latter, and when viewed in the context of US and allied statements and behaviour, entirely understandable.
The reporting bias (it scarcely deserves the term ‘analysis’) comes from the fact that identical conduct has been exhibited by Vietnam (8 fortified islands so far) and Taiwan. In Taiwan’s case it has fortified Taiping Island in the Spratlys, which lie 1637km to the south east of Taiwan.
A similar blindness is shown to the claim brought by the Philippines over the PRC’s ill-defined claims within the so-called 9 Dash Line. This particular claim to rights within the South China Sea was in fact made two years before the PRC came into existence. The successor government to Chiang Kai Shek, who occupy what is now the island of Taiwan, maintains an identical claim to that of the PRC, and was similarly critical of the Tribunal’s decision.
That claim was ostensibly brought by the Philippines, but was in fact argued by British and American lawyers. Its findings have essentially been ignored, not least by the Philippines itself which under President Duterte has made considerable efforts to reduce American influence and improve relations with the PRC.
The 2002 ASEAN-China declaration on the conduct of parties in the South China Sea has the important provision that its members “resolve their territorial and jurisdictional disputes through friendly consultations and negotiations by sovereign states directly concerned.” That agreement continues to be the basis of negotiations by the parties. In 2017 there was unanimous consent to finalise a code of conduct framework that notably excluded any reference to China’s behaviour in the South China Sea (or that of any other party), and promoted the goal of consultation and maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea.Yeah could not be a clearer demarcation between the militaristic and confrontational approach of the US and its allies, and those countries actually at the centre of the issues. The US will undoubtedly continue to threaten and bluster about China, joined by its faithful echo chamber in Canberra. The reality however, that the real “rest of the world” is tired of the violent antics of the fading US hegemon and is looking for an alternative strategic framework. The danger resides in the unwillingness of the US to recognise the shift in the geopolitical balance, and in its desperation to maintain the vestiges of its fading hegemony may plunge us all into a further war."

Looks like China is basically buying Cambodia one bit at a time. Every construction project I went past from the airport has nothing but Chinky signage.

"“Some foreigners do not respect the traffic laws; they drink alcohol, get drunk, yell, have arguments, and are fighting each other at restaurants and in public places.”
I'm sure many Chinese felt the same way in previous centuries and the Thais in the 60's and 70's R&R invasions?.
But of course the ameristani, British, German, French ......... had such "acceptable" morals to bring with them, opium for silver, souls for a Christian God and baguettes ......... backed up with shiny battleships with 12" guns or the more impressive, at slaughtering the sword wielding defenders, Gatling guns?
The world turns every day, some adapt and prosper others hanker after to old quiet life. Should SE Asia be kept in a bottle purely for the amazingly affluent NA and EU citizens to holiday, to be fed, fucked and photographed whilst shooting the wildlife and infecting the women?
Are the nouveaux riche Chinese any more uncouth than the brits on their Spanish fortnight or the ameristani's seeing the sights of Old Europe on a $ a day?
The Brits, Europeans, ameristanis and ME Sheiks have been worldwide "buying/bullying/bombarding xxxx one bit at a time".
The Chinese developing, building, investing but recently no bombardments. An improvement in my eyes.
Or a ¥ investment/bet/bank balance, not the same as $/£/€ investment/bet/bank balance. Ask the casino owners and their investors, the new company employees, the politicians be they Cambodian or Chinese.
You need to move on from Einstein's description of Asians.

Of course some emigrate, all countries lose a % and possible gain immigrants from other countries, if they want to and the receiving country allows them.
Do you have any up to date emigration figures, this link, OECD, is to 2010/2011. China is listed as 0.4%, UK as 6.5, ameristan as 0.5%.
https://www.oecd.org/els/mig/World-Migration-in-Figures.pdf
Wiki has some more recent numbers:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...nd_territories
Method
An excess of persons entering the country is referred to as net immigration (e.g., 3.56 migrants/1,000 population); an excess of persons leaving the country as net emigration (e.g., -9.26 migrants/1,000 population). The net migration rate indicates the contribution of migration to the overall level of population change. The net migration rate does not distinguish between economic migrants, refugees, and other types of migrants nor does it distinguish between lawful migrants and unlawful migrants.[1]
Using 2012 World bank figures, (Total Population, Net immigrants, Net Immigrants/1,000 of Population)
China is:
UK is:
China 1,350,695,000 -1,800,000 -1.33
ameristan is:
UK 63,700,300 900,000 14.13
US 314,102,623 5,007,887 15.94
Using the CIA "Fact Book" figures:
Displayed as Ranking, Country, net immigrants/1,000 population.
The World Factbook by CIA
2017 Estimates.
China is:
121, China, -0.40
UK is:
37, United Kingdom, 2.50
USA is:
29, United States, 3.90
It appears that China is losing 0.04% to the rest of the world. Not a large % of it's population IMHO to worry about.
Eerily similar to the % put on the Chinese Fraudsters No Fly List. Do China and the CIA use the same database?
International Law.
Whatever that is.....
Irrespective of the stats regarding emigration, look at the circumstances surrounding why people emigrate from China. It's because their compatriots are atrocious money-grubbing, soul and environment-destroying people that as soon as they get enough cash, they're outta there !
Oh I'm sure some are, but to name the Chinese as a group seems you are limiting your anger somewhat. Look either side and behind you, to see the rest.
Gee.....I hadn't thought of that. I feel so enlightened now. Praise be to Jesus / Minty

I believe they have a great big fat wallet which happens to be available for such expenses, courtesy of the ameristani "consumers" and the very productive Chinese workers and astute governments.
Long term planning or daily financial upheavals/hourly childish tweets, who is managing the store correctly/ for their own nations future?
^Your welcome. I'll assume it is complimentary, although it depends on the site one looks for clarity.
My post with your edits.
Aren't the Chinese Nouveaux Riche allegedly buying up every piece of western goods they can get their hands on. I suspect if this is true they are hardly "over exploited" compared to their lives previously. In China history has many centuries of serfdom, either to the Chinese leaders of the western invaders. They are moving forward, can the west show similar gains for the lowly peasants or can it be shown they are sliding backwards. Care to comments?
It is "highly likely" and "possible", that more people democratically voted, through their local mouthpieces, for the current Chinese president than the last 5 ameristani president put together.
Compare how the voting took place in China with and ameristani how a President or a UK Prime Minister is placed in position. All have stoppers and twists which could be argued are unusual. But if the majority of the countries citizens, accept their own system and it's outcomes, who is to be the judge. Some foreign poster on a web site?
"If the chinks, etc.". It never ceases to amaze me, that an OP, who would make such a bigoted connotation about a entire people,
can also possess the ability to attract a revolving-door subscriber following, on an OP topic thread posted 3-years, 3 months ago.
Now that ^, is a remarkable achievement.
