    Elderly Nun Gang-Raped in India

An elderly nun in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal was gang-raped Saturday by a group of men after she tried to stop them from robbing a missionary school.

Police said the six men entered the Convent of Jesus and Mary School in Ranaghat, about 80 kilometers northeast of Kolkata, the state capital, early in the day. None of the attackers has been arrested.

The nun, said to be in her 70s, was hospitalized in serious condition.

Scores of angry students, their parents and teachers blocked a nearby highway and railroad tracks for several hours, demanding swift police action leading to the arrest of the culprits.

The attack came at a time of growing concern about sexual violence against women in India.

This month, India prohibited the release of the film "India's Daughter," based on the 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman, and also asked video-sharing website YouTube to remove all links to the documentary.

The Indian government said it was banning the film on the ground it could fuel public anger because it includes an interview with Mukesh Singh, one of six men who raped the physiotherapy student.

In the film, Singh told a BBC filmmaker that a girl is far more responsible for rape than a man.

Days after the ban, thousands of people stormed a high-security prison in northeastern India, dragged out a rape suspect and beat him to death.

Every society that restricts male and female contact, any where, be it Muslim, Hindu or Xtian, evolves a homosexual society.

Prisons, the armed forces, monasteries and any other exclusively male groups all tend to foster an increase in homosexual behaviour as does any environment that excludes access to women.

In polygynous societies where powerful males hold an exclusive harem of females, less powerful males must resort to sharing of any available females or turning their attention to young boys for sexual gratification.

All such societies are burdened by rape (of so called "easy" women) and and sodomy of compliant young boys.

Gang raping an old nun by a pack of sexually frustrated sex addicts has to be close to baby raping.

Don't expect any better behaviour from any of those mysogynists.

Seems a bit excessive even by the standards of West Bengal...which is not exactly noted for it's high standards in the first place..

A famous personality once said something similar about a bikini, yes.

I'd call it aberrant behaviour, not homosexual . . . as in this case a woman was raped by men

India has also a very dark side to it.
This kinda crime would disgust anyone in any part of the world.

Still it doesn't stop me loving the country.

Walking into Pakistan from India is like moving to another planet.

    Indeed it would.
Yet, blind carpet bombing on innocents is quite acceptable.

    ^Is that using flying carpets?

What sort of payload and endurance can they get out of that class of platform?

How do the blind bombardiers know when to drop the ordnance?

    Are the navigators also blind?

And this is a country that challenges US, UK and China with their space program while most of the population is dirt poor. Oh, and India receives hundreds of millions in aid from the UK. Go figure.

Actually, UK aid to India decreased rapidly over the years and ceases this year, but oddly it seems, will continue to be given to Brazil and China.

My Local Catholic Church had to retire their Irish Priest, he was old, but his Irish motherland could not send a replacement, so the church had to get the Holy Spirit to recruit a Priest from India, to replace him.
I knew the old Irish priest, and the new one, both are great, especially the Indian one, when I said that he was married back in India and was over here to support family in India.
Any way the church is always full, at Funerals.

It ain't just the FO, they just jump to Whitehall's tune.
The gov is screwing the taxpayer from a*se*ole to breakfast time.

We ALL pay tax on every financial transaction we undertake.
(even on the black market at it's best, or alternative dollar schemes VAT et al will have crept in to boost prices of raw supply.

If you use money, part of what you use is taxed, GST/VAT/Sales tax, corporate/company tax, income excise/customs tariffs, registration fees, all are part of government revenues, along with revenues gained from gov. investments in state and global enterprises.

If you haven't watched it. Watch the documentary Indias Daughter.

It will make you feel sicker than you feel about this story.

And it was banned from the TV in India on International Woman's Day. Wonder why?

Indian Police Arrest 2 Suspects in Gang Rape of Elderly Nun

    KOLKATA—
Police arrested two suspects Thursday in the gang rape of an elderly nun in a Catholic missionary school this month in a crime that focused attention on the scourge of sexual violence in India despite tough anti-rape laws introduced two years ago.

The suspects were arrested after a nationwide hunt, one of them was found hiding in the western city of Mumbai and the second from West Bengal state, said a police officer said who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to reporters.

The nun, in her 70s, was hospitalized in serious condition. She has since recovered and left the hospital.

Christian leaders say a series of attacks on churches since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's right-wing Hindu government came to power in May have created a sense of fear in the community. Christians comprise 2 percent of India's more than 1.2 billion people.

Police are looking for other suspects who attacked the Convent of Jesus and Mary School in eastern India's West Bengal state on March 14, ransacked the chapel, destroyed religious items and stole cash.

The attackers tied the school's security guards with ropes and entered the nuns' room, where the women were sleeping. They took the elderly nun to another room when she tried to block their way and then raped her, police said.

One of the suspects, Mohammad Salim Shaikh, denied the rape charge, but acknowledged that he was part of the gang which attacked the school in Nadia district, 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of the West Bengal state capital of Kolkata, the officer said Thursday.

India has a long history of tolerance for sexual violence, but the December 2012 fatal gang rape of a 23-year-old woman aboard a moving bus in New Delhi caused outrage across the nation.

The outcry led the federal government to rush legislation doubling prison terms for rapists to 20 years and criminalizing voyeurism, stalking and the trafficking of women. The law also makes it a crime for officers to refuse to open cases when complaints are made.
