Robert Allenby kidnapped and beaten in violent robbery in Honolulu, Hawaii

AUSTRALIAN golfer Robert Allenby feels lucky to be alive after he was kidnapped beaten and robbed in Honolulu before being dumped about 10km away from the abduction site.
Allenby was at the popular Amuse Wine Bar in the tourist-laden Waikiki with his close friend Anthony Puntoriero after missing the cut at the Sony Open.
The 43-year-old believes the suspects may have drugged him before he was taken to an underground car park where he was knocked out, robbed and thrown into the boot of a car.
Allenby has noticeable damage and lacerations to his nose and forehead.
“I didn’t think I was going to survive this one,” Allenby told AAP.
“I was separated from my friend in the bar after we had paid the tab at 10.48pm and he went to the bathroom and next thing you know I’m being dumped in a park miles away.
“I only know this part because a homeless woman found me and told me she saw a few guys pull up and throw me out of the car. That is where I got the scrapes above my eye from the sidewalk.” Shaken and in a bad way Allenby realised he was without his phone, wallet or any cash and was starting to be harassed by other homeless people in the park.
“The homeless woman got me away from the others and then a retired military guy walking past came to my aid,” he said.

“He got me into a taxi and paid for me to get to my hotel and I called police from there. I have his details and will be getting back in touch with him for sure.” The four-time PGA Tour winner has been assisting police and PGA Tour FBI officials with inquiries.
“We have some names and numbers and they have some leads to follow up, so I am confident they will get the guys,” Allenby said. “With the FBI guys involved, they’re the best, the guys on the tour are awesome, and they’ll get to the bottom of it.”
Allenby was most concerned about potentially not being able to call 13-year-old daughter Lily for her birthday, but scans have cleared him of any serious facial or head injuries and he is hopeful of being cleared to fly in the next day or two.
“She’s really upset about it but at the end of the day it could have been a lot worse,” the Victorian said.
“I don’t care about the money or my cards or anything like that. I am just glad I have survived this one.”

It is an odd story. Seems if they drugged and took him to an underground car park, they would have just robbed him and left him there. Hope we hear more on this tale.

Following a clever do-it-yourself pattern, Amuse Wine Bar allows young 20 to 30 somethings to test their taste buds on 80 different wines in a very modern, trendy atmosphere. You take the role of server, pouring your desired portion from a number of bottle dispensers. In addition, you can nibble on cheese platters, while enjoying live music. It's a wine bar, and naturally there's a lot more drinks then just wine. Check out the cocktail menu for truly unique and tasty house designed drinks that will light your senses and make you feel pretty darn good.
Sounds like a bit of a recipe for disaster.

Robert Allenby attack: A homeless woman gives conflicting account of what led to golfer’s bashing

A HOMELESS woman has given a conflicting account of what led to the violent bashing of Australian golfer Robert Allenby in Hawaii.
And it has emerged that police have CCTV footage of a suspect wanted over the attack.
A homeless woman told Nine News that she found Allenby, 43, “bloodied and confused” and arguing with two men about a block away from the bar where he had been out last Friday night.
She alleged Allenby asked her to use his credit card to withdraw $500 cash to pay his attackers so he could get his wallet back, Nine News reports.

Looks pretty happy for a homeless person

The witness, who has spoken to police, told Nine News the men were “quite aggressive” before a man, described as a former soldier, intervened and helped Allenby into a cab back to his hotel.
Nine also reports the Honolulu Police Department has CCTV footage of a suspect using Allenby’s credit card to buy two bottles of alcohol at Waikiki.
Speaking to Nine, a bloodied Allenby said the attack was like the plot of a Hollywood movie.
“We’ve all seen these movies, Taken. it’s the spitting image of that, really,” Allenby said.

He said he was “still trying to pinpoint whether it was a baseball bat or someone’s fist” that hit him.
Allenby said he believed it was a targeted attack.
“It’s a shame that people get jealous,” Allenby said.
“The only good thing is is that I survived.”
The Australian pro-golfer was at AMUSE Wine Bar in Honolulu, when he left his friend to go to the bathroom.

When he returned, a group of people he did not know told him that his friend was waiting for him downstairs in the carpark.
Nine said Allenby then caught the lift down and when he emerged, he claimed he was brutally bashed before being robbed and stuffed in a car boot.

Allenby had previously described being saved by a homeless woman after the attack.
While his recollection of the incident is patchy, Allenby recalled a woman coming to his aid after he was dumped from the car, roughly 10 kilometres from where he was abducted.
His recollection of events contradicts what the homeless woman has told Nine News and Hawaiian police.
Allenby claimed the homeless woman scared off two other men who were kicking him.
“A homeless lady pretty much saved my life,” Allenby had earlier said.
Allenby appeared on Sunrise today via Skype to speak about the attack, which occurred after he had dinner at the up-market wine bar in Honolulu.
Allenby and the friend he was dining with were separated about 10.50pm when the attack occurred.
CCTV apparently shows him surrounded by up to five men, according to reports.
Allenby was allegedly knocked unconscious, placed in the boot and then dumped about 10km away after being robbed.
The bizarre ordeal has prompted sympathy but also scepticism from members of the public, with some questioning whether it was a “publicity stunt”.

ROBERT Allenby was depressed and visited a strip club prior to passing out and hitting his head on a rock, according to another witness account that contradicts the golfer’s story.

Another homeless man Chris Khamis, 47, has come forward to claim he was there when Allenby hurt himself on Friday night. The golfer has claimed that he was drugged, put in the boot of a car, bashed and robbed after leaving an upmarket bar.
But Khamis told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that he was with Allenby moments before he injured himself and the golfer seemed depressed about losing in the Sony Open earlier that day. Khamis said Allenby also thought he had been drugged at a strip club where he went to get some “action”.

Khamis said he didn’t actually see Allenby hurt himself because he looked away for a moment but when he turned back around, the golfer was on the ground bleeding.
“There was no crime (when I was present). It was his stupidity,” Khamis said.
“(Allenby) passed out and hit his head. I was there. Nobody pushed him out of a car.”
A spokeswoman for the Honolulu Police told news.com.au that Allenby’s case “continues to be classified as a second-degree robbery and fraudulent use of credit card”. There has been no indication that the police are pursuing Allenby’s allegation of being kidnapped.
She said no arrest had been made so far.

Another man Toa Kaili has also told the Herald Sun that the golfer was “beyond tipsy”.
Kaili said it was only in the last of his three encounters with the golfer on the night that he had a blooded and “busted-up” face.
CCTV footage shows Allenby leaving the Amuse Wine Bar with two men and a woman he met at the club.

Mr Kaili said he first noticed Allenby passed out on the footpath only a block away.
It took him 10 minutes to wake him and another eight minutes for Allenby to stand.
“He was beyond tipsy. This man was blitzed,” he said.
“He then started saying, ‘Where’s the other guy? You gave him the keys; to get the keys.’ I was like ‘Wooh, this dude is beyond having drinks’.”
He said Allenby then turned on him and his friend, Chris, accusing them of robbery after realising his phone and wallet were missing.
An angry Mr Kaili then left.

Two-and-a-half hours later, in the same spot, he again found Allenby, who did not recognise him: “He told us some punks robbed him.”
Mr Kaili says Allenby soon again became convinced he and his friend were robbers, and began searching his bag.
“He kept on saying, ‘You know who I am’. I didn’t care because to me he was a guy passed out on the street and I was trying to help him.”
Mr Kaili said Allenby threw a punch but missed. He left, but his friend stayed with Allenby.

Returning 30 minutes later, this time he found Allenby wiping blood off his face.

“When I asked, ‘What the hell happened?’, Chris said, ‘I tried to hail him a cab. He was rocking back and forth, nodded off and face-planted into this damn jagged rock’.”
Police, who are conducting robbery and credit card fraud investigations, have interviewed Mr Kaili, who denies any wrongdoing, and are still waiting to interview Chris.
Homeless woman Charade Keane, who got a $1000 reward from Allenby for helping him, was taciturn yesterday.
“I’m tired. I can’t talk about this any more,” she told the Herald Sun.

Australian golfer Robert Allenby ran up a $US3,400 ($4,324) bar tab at a Honolulu strip club the night he claims he was bashed, robbed and abducted, according to a US report.

Honolulu detectives are continuing to investigate what happened to Allenby on the evening of January 16.

Allenby may shed more light when he holds a scheduled press conference on Tuesday in Phoenix, Arizona, the site of the next PGA Tour event.

GolfChannel.com reported on Sunday it had interviewed multiple witnesses and retraced Allenby's steps after he had dinner with friends at the Amuse Wine Bar in downtown Honolulu.

After Allenby left the bar he went to Club Femme Nu, described as an adult entertainment club wedged between a tattoo parlour and a Korean restaurant, GolfChannel.com reported, citing multiple sources who were working at the premises.

Allenby was there until around midnight with "a group of friends" and ran up a $US3400 bar tab, according to the report.

Allenby suffered facial cuts and bruising to his face and claimed he was hit in the face with a fist or baseball bat and robbed.

A homeless man says Allenby fell and hit his face on a lava rock.
