Better still
The first real rock song I ever heard courtesy of our neighbour, it was all on after that
Ye he's adding to his 120 million wealth good on the old boy.
Better than us Sad fuckers trying to bring down every man and his dog.
Fair play to Plant for not wanting to piss all over his legend and legacy. Tearing up a multi-million dollar contract in front of the corporate bean-counters that control music and media these days is pretty, erm, fucking rock and roll maaan!
Fuck 'em!
seems he doesn't have anything to say on the matter, must be good for his solo career PR.

I don't blame him for not wanting to sing about Hobbits and Nordic myths anymore.
His head is in a different place.
I find this incident rather amusing. Mr. Plant did everyone a favour. I don't think the concert promoters would have been able to accommodate the tens of thousands of elderly and geriatric concert goers. These people would have had to go for a pee every 30 minutes and most concert venues cannot accommodate that kind of surge towards to the potties. Nor are the venues built to accommodate the numbers of people using walkers, canes and wheelchairs. The public health authorities would have to have a staff of hundreds on hand to responds to the old people requiring attention when they had their strokes, seizures, falls, or dementia induced panic attacks. This would have presented some merchandising issues. Instead of Led Zep t-shirts, these fans would be looking for adult diapers and other garments after they had their usual bladder and bowel "accidents".
Kindness is spaying and neutering one's companion animals.
Heh...You just solved that problem...Originally Posted by zygote1

Maybe he's a bit like Don McLean.
When asked what it mean't to have released the iconic Bye Bye Miss American Pie he replied "It means I will never have to work another day in my life...."
Good interview with Led Zeppelin after the Kennedy Center honors.
Can't we remember them as they were in their hey day....
There seems to be this fashionable notion of reunions that usually don't work out.
The recent embarrassing one comes to mind - the remaining members of The Who - Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend.

It's a nostalgia thing I suppose.
When I listen to those led zep songs and watch those clips I can't describe the strength of it. The smells, the memories flood me.
dude listen to the original then listen to that! proves my point!!!! Those songs were tough for a 24 year old let alone a 60 year old!!!
not to mention its sounds tuned down at least 1.5 steps!!! if not 2!!!
its no shame in not being able to sing notes you once could! I am a huge zep fan! been playing zep on guitar since I was like 12 years old!!!
a voice is not a guitar... especially when you spent your youth singing like him!
This is a great message board.... For me to poop on!
Sorry whats you point, the guy is still going and i support him.
His age means he has to modify how he sings and seems many people still enjoy.
I prefer this mob nowadays.

you ever sing? professionally? its not about modifying how he sings.. it means he can't hits those notes anymore! (think Immigrant Song)Originally Posted by Yasojack
do you really want to hear stairway to heaven tuned down to "E"? There is a reason they picked the keys they wrote the songs in!
and man... I love Robert Plant's music more than anybody you will ever meet... this is not about that! its not even about people enjoying what he "can" do. its about him giving people what they are paying for! He knows he can't give people (paying what $1500 a ticket) what he perceives in their money's worth!
I don't blame him one bit and I don't think its a bad thing that he knows the limitations of his instrument!
for some reason you think I am cutting him down... I am not!
His material now is nothing like Led Zep material. It's mostly gentle, almost warbly stuff.Originally Posted by Fluke
So no, that's no proof 'his voice is up to it.'
^^^^
left out all the BIG screams... basically "talking" his lines...
and....
getting out a song for a special occasion is cool but a full tour... 35 nights 2-3 hours a night.... doing led zep material? nope..
Maybe he should have been more careful when he last year addressed his old mates through the media
---Call me; I am available in 2014----
Then again; I respect his decision
