A talk show host with a sordid past in the UK has been shot dead by his son-in-law – who was also his lover, according to police.
Television personality Scott Rogers, 52, was found dead in his Baton Rouge, Louisiana home on Wednesday with a single gunshot wound to the head in what is being investigated as a murder-suicide attempt, WAFB reports.
Beside him lay a suicide note, believed to have been penned by his 36-year-old son-in-law and reported lover Matthew Hodgkison.
"They broke our happy loving home. They do not get to take Scott too," the note read.
Police believe Hodgkinson shot Rogers then turned the gun on himself but survived.
Rogers was under investigation for fraud and the state took custody of his two adopted children, aged 10 and two, earlier this month, The Advocate reports.
The England born former dance teacher, who was known as Richard Scott-Rogers at the time, was acquitted of child molestation charges involving a 13-year-old boy in 1993.
But accusations that likened a dance studio ran by Rogers in England in the 1990s to a cult and that he cuddled young students during sleepovers still hung over his name.
Investigations into his death are ongoing.
